Bought a 3 speed wiper motor last summer and just now bought the 3 speed cam. I am trying to put it together but the pin on the pivot arm that the plastic round cam goes on is too short. It will not stick up past the cam to get the clip on. Not even close. You think the guy I bought this from just stuck a 2 speed pivot arm on the 3 speed motor before he sold it or am I missing something?

Need to know what year you are working on to be able to figure out exactly what is wrong. There are a bunch of different 2 and 3-speed wiper cranks with pins. What number is stamped in the crank? Also there are different kinds of bushings for different years and models and most times 2 and three speed bushings do not interchange there again it depends on year and model. If you could post a pic on the thread of what crank and bushing you have that would be very helpful

Putting it on a 70 Charger. The 3 speed motor came out of an older Belvedere I believe. The cam I bought is this one: http://www.megapartsusa.com/prodimages/large/199-DR008.jpg

The pivot arm has the numbers 3431687 58622 on it.

I want to say the Belvedere was a '67 and I bet my problem. I assumed the pivot arms/cams were the same on all 3 speeds.

That Megaparts bushing would work fine with if you had the original 3 speed wiper and arm/pin in your '70. Have the same megaparts bushing in my '68 coronet and works great. 68-70 B-Body parts manuals show the same bushing throughout those years of B models. Moparparts has a very good point on the arms and pins. Being you have a '67 motor/arm/pin, i'd agree, may be your culprit.

Might wanna talk to Kim over at Passion4mopars.com. They got the scoop on a lot of that stuff, including the arm's. That motor may not even have the right clocking for your car...Don't know myself, but never hurts to ask the pro's.

That's the problem. In 71 the B body components changed to E body components and that crank arm would not require a bushing, the E body crank arms don't. BUT bigger problem would be that the arm is set up for E body linkage and E body travel.

The crank arm that you're looking for for the 70 B body (actually mid 68-70) would be 2822273. Hard to find. I have had guys tell me that they used the 2822272 crank arm (For an A body) and although the angle on the cutout (for lack of a better word there) is slightly different than on the 273 crank so they parked the motor and then put the arms on. 272 crank arms are easier to find and cheaper.

What's the part number on the 67 motor that you got? The earlier model motors operated differently than the mid 68-70 also?

Sorry, my mistake. I dug through some old emails and the guy said the motor was from an "A" body. The transmission arms I picked up are from the 67 Belvedere. Sorry about that. The number on the motor is 3431905. Passion4Mopars, I looked on your website(great site by the way) and it says the motor is from a '74 A Body.

Thanks for the great info on a swappable pivot arm. Those things are a little pricey. My project to get these wipers going is getting expensive with all the extra parts I keep needing.

I am having that same concern now about where the motor will park. Jumped into this one a little blind when I bought the motor but got a great price at the time. Hopefully I can get this all to work. Never figured the wiper system was so complicated.

A and B bodies are clocked on the switch plate in the same place bandit. You can find the 273 crank arm on any mid 68 to 70 B body that came with 3 speed motor....there are some still in the bone yards, just harder and harder to find :)

Wrong bushing, correct crank arm from Tommy on ebay. (The black ones are normally two speed bushings.) You can get the bushing for the B bodies from Bill Allphin at A+M High Auto (http://www.amhightechauto.com/) (if he's had them made again.) Tell him Kim sent ya ;-)
