My 1966 Charger has the craziest thing I have ever seen for the wiper travel.

They park high (above the windshield lower chrome) about 3" on the angled high side but only travel to about 9" from the drivers side of the windshield.

Obviously re-clocking the wiper arm on the shaft will do nothing as the travel is the travel.

The only thing I can think of is that the linkage arm may have been replaced with maybe an A body arm???

Is there any kind of cam difference or different holes in the linkage arms for different bodies or is it all specific to the body size?

I have not ripped this apart yet and thought I would see what others here had to say first.

Are they sloppy? Is the wiper transmission worn out i mean? How far can you move the arm by hand?

No, it is an 80K mile car. The wipers move immediately when you try to move the arms.

I can not see the linkage through the cowl vents or under the dash, i believe you have to take the wiper motor out.

My 2 speeds wont go all the down to the cowl sit up on the windshield a bit same issue wonder if there is a bump stop adjustment or something?

I would think it unlikely the wiper arm pivots were replaced. I would check the motor first. The metal arm that connects the motor to the transmission rods being too short could cause this. The longer that arm is, the greater the range of motion from the wipers.

You should be able to pull the wiper arm off of the pivots and clock them a little lower on the splines to correct that.

Yes, that is a possibility. Maybe they made different motors for different size windshields/cars, A, B, C and D bodies?

I have an email into Jules the wiper guy and if he doesn't know then I don't know who would. I will update when I get an answer.

What happened here. Curious what you found

The car has been in the shop undergoing major surgery and have not had time to look at what was suggested by Jules the Wiperman:

sounds very much like you have the wrong cam arm.
That is the arm that connects the motor to the linkage.
Check a parts book to see which cam arm you should have .
It would not be the linkage pivots.
The motor is also not suspect.
Check to see that you do not have any bushings broken on the linkage
connections.

If you need, I can get specific measurements for each piece, I have a couple of linkage setups lying around for 67 Coronets.

Thanks. I will let you know when I take it apart.

OT but be careful pulling the arms off and on. They pop of. Lay a blanket or whatever on the hood in case they launch.
