I have a wire coming out of the ignition plug that looks a bit sketchy. I assume once you pull the plug off that there is a tang or something that holds the wire in the plug. Assuming I need to replace the wire can you get the piece off that holds the wire in to reuse it on a new wire? TIA Burt

Take a packing staple or other thin narrow piece of metal and insert it from the female end of the plug, next to the terminal you want to remove. There is a small tang on the terminal that prevents it from being removed. Use the metal to 'flatten' that tang and the wire/terminal will pull out the rear of the plug.
You may be able to reuse the terminal, but it's a hassle. Go to NAPA and buy a new matching one.

Thanks, I appreciate the reply. Burt

And the male prong looks like this. Squeeze it or push on the short half to remove.

Just thought I'd warn y'all... Here in Crazfornia we no longer have male and/or female.... you can be fined or even jailed for such atrocities as referring to something with a specific gender.... From now on you should simply refer to these objects as gender........ Do Not Assign a specific gender....

I swear they've lost their f***ing minds...
