I have a stock bore 1970 440 (69 casting date) short block that someone is interested in and was wondering what something like this is worth these days. It has factory cast pistons, moly rings, 10/10 forged crank, LY rods. At present, it has a Hemi grind cam, ported 516 heads and steel shim gaskets. I kinda want to keep the heads but the cam can go with the short block. The pistons are .050 in the hole and produces 10.3-1 with the 80cc heads and steel gaskets....and has never been run since the freshen up and only had 50k miles on it when I did it.

As a wild guess I'd say $800-$1000.00. Someone can bolt on a $1000.00 set of heads, an intake and some sheet metal and have a great engine for under $3K. I think to build one from the ground up can easily be $3K. A real HP stamped block might bring in a few hundred extra.
