Worn door hinges

My driver door drops slightly when opened. I see some pin and copper bushing replacements on eBay. Will this solve the problem? Looks pretty easy to replace with some help with the door itself.

Hinges are temporary at best. Resto ricks has the best rebuild kits they come with new pin and bushings for the upper and oversized pin for the lower.

With the door slightly open and you holding on to it, Pick it up and down so that it wiggles in the hinges. Then you can go from there as to what's needed. Surf the subject on youtube and start reading. Good Luck

I used some dorman 924-108 hinges. Had to machine the square hole but they are way cheaper than the repops.

This is the best solution. From memory it's the lower hinge point that isn't bushed so replacing the upper bushing and the pin is sort of a half-way repair.

You certainly can buy new hinges. However, if you don't have a lot of extra cash laying around AND you have access to a welder & drill press you can rebuild most door hinges.

"Moderately bad" hinges --> the brass bushings wear out
"Really bad" hinges --> brass wears out & then the steel pins "hollow out & oblong" the holes the brass bushings go into

Years ago I rebuild some Trans Am door hinges that were "really bad". I had a shop weld up the holes, machined the welds smooth on the tops & re-drilled the holes on a drill press to the exact size I needed. Then I just put in some part store repair pins/bushings & the hinges were like new. More work, but cheaper

I only do them the complete and proper way. I replace the roller pins and wave washers as well as oversized lower pivot pins. No Mickey Mouse eBay pin and bushing kits made up from loose parts as Mopar never made or sold a complete rebuild kit. Member discounts for FABO, FBBO, FEBO .
