The first one was bought in June, 1968. I bought a 1968 Dodge Charger R/T 426 Hemi with an auto trans from the one and only MR NORMS, GRAND SPAULDING DODGE in Chicago. I was hooked from that point forward.
66 BVD I slant 6,My brother gave me this car.I was complaining it had no power. He said"bulls#$T". Said I needed to learn how to drive it.Learn it's personality. This pic was taken of bro shortly after the conversation.I havr been a 66/67 b-body man since.
1965 Plymouth Sport Fury. I miss that old car it was a 426 wedge car 4 speed but the PO blew it up and grenaded the trans so I got it for $800.00 with a 440 and 727
1983 was making minimum wage.1971 /6 Demon.$200 Had no trouble at all with it.I drove it for 2yrs daily driver, was building a 340 for itin 85'.Ran the car low on oil(bad rear seal).wanted to see how long it would run with idiot light on.ran 2weeks before it started knocking. Was putting the 340 IN THE CAR!when served divorce papers.Had to sell to finance lawyer.Miss that car ,still hate the ex.
1968 Road Runner. It was around 1981 and the ad read: 1969 Road Runner, rebuilt but not running, make offer. I only went to look at it because the ad said it was a 69 and that's what I wanted. When I saw it was a 68 with a bench and column auto I was disappointed but it was the nicest one I have seen to date and about half the price of the others. Went home all excited to tell my dad and he said "you are not buying a car!". A year went by before I went back to the house where the car was, and when I looked over the fence it was still there. I immediately knocked on the door and soon found myself taking it home for $450.00.....And in case you all were wondering I still have that car.
To be fair I drove a 69 318 Charger in HS before I had the RR but technically it was not my car. I found it and maintained it but my dad bought it and we all drove it. I got my license in that car. It was triple black, had 58K orig miles and cost $600.00. I want it back!!
My uncle and my old buddy Jim got me started on MoPar. Jim's dad had a 69 Dart slant 6 and my uncle had a 69 RR back in the late 70's as well as a 68 Belvedere that he made into a pickup, which I got to play with for a while. The Belvedere was right around the time of the Charger but before the RR.
1974 Dodge Charger. It was triple black with a 360 and 727! LOTS of fun for a first car. I rebuilt the engine and a few months later some idiot in a ford F-150 rear ended me while I was waiting at a light. I'll have to see if I can find a pic.
Mine was a 66 Valiant 170 3 on the tree. Bought it for 16 bucks. Put about a 100 bucks in it and 4 used tires. As I was too young to drive, my brother drove it for the next 3 years up and down the east coast working on Navy bases. Its life ended in Florida when someone ran a red light.Same year I turned 16 as was to get it back...
What got me hooked on Mopars was the same car that turned my Pop from an AMC/Jeep car, Ford truck guy into a Mopar guy. A '72 Duster. Here it is now, in the hands of my 14 nephew.
1969 Coronet 440. Bought it in 1987. 70,000 miles, rust free, excellent running 318. All this for only $800. I'd like to find another one similar to it in about the same condition, although I know that truly rust free examples are very hard to find these days.
this may not have been my first but it did get me back in the Mopar sport again,
this was a one owner 1973 duster 318 four speed with just under 40k miles on it, i saw it parted around the corner from my house and i did what any true car guy would have done. i sold my wife's Toyota Camry to buy it but wouldn't let he drive it!
I always liked Fords and Olds 442's then my Father took me to the Mopar Nationals in 1984 when I was 14 ,and I have been hooked on Mopars ever since.I bought my first car when I was 15.It was a wrecked 1968 Dodge Coronet 440 two door.My Uncle and I had it restored a year and half later...
