Toys for tots Local Marine Corps All toys go to kids in your area.

Something some of you might want to know. Please help someone it could be just a person you know who needs it. Thank You.

Figures.....This is why we use a charity locally that helps single parent family's, We as a family get a list of needs from a mom or dad who is raising kids on their own with no or little to no income and buy them all the clothes and supply's on their list but then we buy a **** load of toys for the kids, when they wake up Christmas morning they will have we hope the best Christmas ever. After the first of the year the charity usually passes on a letter from the parent thanking the mystery family for the kindness. We stay completely anonymous.

I had to explain to my mother in law that we needed to help the people right here in our own county.

This was much better than buying a cow for some farmer in coasta rica! lol

Every year my wife and I drop off a few toys at our local Marine recruitment office and every year they try to recruit me. I have to keep telling them I've already done that :)

Our club tries to track down a family in need, especially if children are involved, with the help of local tv stations. This way we have personal contact with the family and they know who is giving. The family from last year, is participating this year.

A local hardware store has a tree in the front of the store with numerous tags hanging from it. Each tag has several toys listed, and clothing sizes for mom and dad. You take the tag buy the stuff and return everything to the store. They then wrap and deliver the gifts.

I have found out that I was misenformed. It is my fault for not doing my own research. On Snopes .com Rumor has it site they have clairified it. Some of the ones running these organasations do make a bunch of money but the organasations do have high efficency rateings.

What matters IMHO is that you give. Not for the sake of huge organizations; there's nothing wrong with that, but it doesn't mean you can't give.

I worked overseas for the last 7 years and it was a really great feeling to give to people in need every day. It was usually something very simple, a pair of running shoes, some makeup, tooth brushes and toothpaste, clothing of any kind, coffee, toilet paper, deodorant...the things that we use every day and don't give a second thought to. What was even better was that I could give and see the benefit to the families; not wondering if they actually got what I gave.

It's a very humbling experience and I can tell you that I now appreciate what a great life that we lead..most of the world can only dream....give what you can in your own way, you'll feel great for doing it..... I was fortunate to see this first hand.

There's tons of places to give...to heck with all the high priced CEO's..give where you can see the difference
