Need to pick out a shifter for my new reverse manual tranny. I'm just wondering which shifters you prefer?

~Nick

Turbo Action
Easy to use reverse and positive gates
Sturdy

If it's for a street/strip car a B&M Quick Silver is a quality well built self contained & great unit also... Both, Forward or reverse patterns, great quality & easy to install & use, if it's a race version that's a completely different story & shifter all together, probably a B&M, Hurst, Turbo Action & TCI all make race shifters...

i have used a ton of shifters for street and race.turbo action is by far the best as far as quality and ease of use.just installed one in my 67 for a reverse manual vlv body.

Sounds like the Turbo Action is one of the favorites. I do like the look of them my only concern is it seems a bit different to get used to compared to a standard up and down. I was actually thinking of a a B&M shifter but seems like not as popular?

I am a B&M guy. I like the Pro Ratchet. Simple, relatively inexpensive, plain and slap gets the job done.

That is actually the one I was looking at. It looks simple, easy to see which gear your in and all that.
HEMI-ITIS: Thats nice, bet there aren't many running a push button out there.

It is. It actually replaced my all time favorite shifter, the B&M Kwik Klick. But because the Kwik Klik never came with a reverse lockout, it's not NHRA legal these days. I remember when you could get one for 49 bucks. The Pro Ratchet is a damn fine upgrade though.

heres a PPP shifter that i use.best piece made.

Didn't care too much for the SCS that I had but my all time favorite is a Vertigate!! :D

i have turbo actuions in both my hemi belvedere and 65 dodge coronet with the proper shift gate. alot of the shifters are bought with the missing gate detent and you can go right into 3rd if you dont have it.
JUST ASK ACTION ANGE1. LOL

HERES THE 65 lite blue dodge shifter setup, you can see the detent in the picture, same in the hemi belvederes picture.
I tried this shifter with a free nuetral valve body where free nuetrsl is after 3rd gear which means everything is pushed up,3rd is where 2nd gear is. It goes like P,R(N) same position,1,2,3,N
I kept going from 1st right into 3rd, if you didnt just slap it into gear,I didnt want to change my style so i removed the free nuetral trans.
When I go back to it this year with transbrake and free nuetral I will be changing out the shifter to a PPP free nuetral shifter.

View attachment 91526If you can afford it, the turbo action is fool proof.

kdtjb are you running a torqueflite reverse manual transmission? If so look at your shifter pattern compared to mine.

Yes I am running reverse pattern, when I shift I just smack it back. I had one like yours and had to pull it to me and back on 2-3 shift. They are both good, but I like keeping my hands off it and just hit it. By the way your cars are super nice, some day I would like to build one that nice.
