Parts ruined in shipping, FBBO Member refuses refund.

Going on 2 months now.
Still trying to get refund from this member.
Awfully STRANGE getting ripped off by a FBBO Gold Member.

Anybody else had problems with this Guy?
Admin has told him to pay up.
Paypal wont help, naturally ( I used Friends & Family method, as to not stick him w fee).
FedEx just reads me a tracking number, naturally.

When we buy parts online and here, you always run the risk of eventually running into these LOSERS.
Have asked Several times for a refund of my 700 + 65 shipping, but I keep getting EMPTY PROMISES.

Thanks to the admin for your help and anybody else.

Who's fault the parts were ruined? Shipping Co, or sellers poor packaging? If shipping company, why would seller be responsible?
 
Who got the insurance money for the ruined parts??
 
was the packaging damaged? if so, did you take a picture of it and then call fedex?

My thoughts exactly, if it was packaged properly then Fed Ex is responsible, was there an insurance upgrade applied to cover the parts? I know most automatically come with insurance but you have to pay a little extra for added coverage. Obviously I don't know the whole story but that's my first thoughts putting myself in each of your shoes.
 
I had shipped an item years ago that was damaged in shipping; but then I couldn't say exactly if I shoulda packaged better. Except, given the result, have to say yes. I refunded the buyer's money promptly. Since then whenever I ship pricy stuff I insure it. I'm not about to stiff someone as obviously that won't bid well for future sales or reputation.
 
How badly was it damaged, is it worth anything now? Did you return the parts? Have you filed a claim with the shipping co.? Do you have any pictures of the packaging or the parts? What empty promises? Has he told you he would refund your money?
I have paid with “friends and family” for lower priced items, but $700 to someone you don’t know?
So many questions.

Never delivered. Which makes it more of a DONE DEAL for refund.
Was probably F'd up due to bad packaging. These Surrounds are long and not EZ to package for shipping.
But obviously, this is an assumption, since I never received anything.

I've been on the other side and have promptly refunded after waiting a coupla weeks, waiting on a super slow delivery. Sometimes you just gotta admit defeat with these shipping companies and move on. It's all part of selling parts. Especially when it is obvious.

With very limited information from the OP it is hard to understand how it got damaged....

Was it poor packaging? Was it the fault of the carrier?

Either way if insured for the correct amount has that been explored?

As a buyer and a seller myself when I deal with fragile items that carry a high cost. I recommend to the seller or if I am selling to the buyer to pay up and have the carrier pack them. It is an added cost but when the carrier packs them they cannot deny the claim due to poor packaging..

Also, once you accept the box and open it you claim it arrived well...most don’t know that trick some carriers play. Also, if you use a used box most carriers will deny the claim....

The other thing I do with these type of items is to direct it to the store, inspect the box and have the clerk open it....The carriers are very sneaky at deny deny deny always protect yourself...

Imho if this was a carrier situation insurance should be sought first. If damaged by poor packaging me as a seller would ask to return the item and once received I would issue a refund...but that doesn’t mean this guy has to it can still be claimed through insurance.....

I just think there is more to the story here than what we have presented....
 
He lives in Canada, you live in Florida. You'll loose tracking info in and out of the country.

He seems like a stand-up member looking at his post and transactions. Waiting for his reply...

Never delivered, I misunderstood then.
I guess the the question then becomes, who’s responsible for the shipping and insurance.
I don’t know the legal answer but when I sell something I feel responsible to get it there undamaged.
Would also like to hear from the seller to get the other side of the story.
-The lesson here: only pay with friends and family, when you’re paying friends and family.
 
If its "Not delivered" then it shouldn't be up to the seller to refund you, it should be up to the carrier. If this was a cross-border shipment then there's a good chance its stuck in customs because of some "t" not being crossed on the paperwork. Get a hold of the shipper and have them look into it.

I ALWAYS take photos of the open box as I pack items to show how well they're packed. Then I take more photos when I drop it off at the shipper to show the package is intact. Then pay for appropriate insurance.
 
I usually don't comment on these types of threads because they're really none of my business, but....never delivered... that's a whole different ballgame than 'ruined in shipping' as your title reads? How do you know it was ruined, or did FedEx tell you this? I'm not trying to come down on you, (or the seller at this point) because I don't know what's really going on.... But when you make threads like this bro you have to be 100% accurate and transparent or people will NOT give you the benefit of the doubt...
