    No right, for me shifting was happening quick when releasing the button, I was more comfortable with my hand already there

    Since you have some downtime waiting on parts, I would practice releasing the button, might help to determine a mounting location. I had mine mounted by the shifter 1st, but for me it was more comfortable to left side of the steering wheel
