Well.yeah there shouldn't be "Hex Nuts" in there, you mean DOWN INTO the Stud holes? Preventing you from removing the manifolds? If its what Im guessing, I'd get a METAL "Swzall Blade" and Cut the bolts...You can always use a torch and Vise-Grips after the manifolds are off & remove the Wrong bolts.
If its NOT an A12 car? I wouldnt. There is a way to On & off these hoods. I see more get Laughed at at car shows with a 318/383 Coronet/Satellite than ever before. Originality Reigns-
