Define went bad/broke. Is there debris or they just won't stay pumped up. If there are pieces in the motor you need to find them....but if they just go flat perhaps you could inspect the cam lobe and replace them if the cam is OK. I would at least replace all the lifters.
The converter in my barracuda will occasionally lose it's fluid....draining back into the trans (I think). Then when you try to make it move it barely moves. In a couple minutes of running time it feels normal. It's an 8 inch Coan.
Actually I don't know if this drain back is caused by the...
I have used a Milodon 31015 7 qt and an extended stock pan on my 73 without modifications to the K member, What pans have you tried? Are you still using the isolation mounts for the K member? I assume your using the stock motor mounts.

With the leak down tester installed you should be able to hear where the air is leaking from on the cylinder with 68% leakage. Are you looking to purchase this motor or do you own it?

I'll be happy if that's the problem. I was worried because the engine has plenty of runs on it but runs the number and all signs are good.......except cracking the valley pan. I'ss
I'll be happy if that's the problem. A friend at the track suggested that may be the trouble. I'll find out this...
I developed an oil leak a few weeks ago on my Charger (499 cu in., .620 lift flat tappet cam, 906 heads) and it turned out the valley pan gasket had cracked. It had seen a lot of passes so I just replaced it. The new one cracked in one race (10 passes). Seems like one of the valves on my headers...
Oh yes. I have check springs ordered (always before I used clay) since I would prefer not to remove the heads.
Since a purple shaft is not available, it looks like I'll wind up with a .600 lift, approx. 270 @ .050 from someone. I've used Ultradyne in the past.
Thanks again.
