Ok I pulled the bill from the shaft shop. Now I’m really confused. It says he used a Spicer 5-789x which is a 7260 series joint. He told me he used a 1310/1350 hybrid. My mechanic had no problems with the install. Guess I’m gonna see if I can get down on the creeper. Passed out, fell and broke...
Sorry. Should have been clearer. With the joint in place the 1350 post fitted in the yoke saddle the 1310 posts sit almost 3/8th towards the front of the car. It is not inline like the picture AS67GTX showed. If I layed mine on a table with the 2 1350 cups touching the surface the 2 1310 cups...
Ok. I bought a new 489 case with 3.73 gears and a Detroit locker. I also added a billet pinion Yoke in 1350. My old unit was a 1310. I didn’t have a local shop here that could make me a new full 1350 shaft. Problem I’m having is a vibration that’s new. I’ve never used this kind of joint before...
I have a cast crank 76 440 in my 63. The PO had installed the very heavy speedpro 6 pack pistons I left them and installed a set of 440 source CNC Stealth heads, Isky 292 mega cam,RPM intake, Holley 750 double pumper, and Doug’s D452 headers. 3k converter and 373 gears. I’m very pleased with the...
I would take it back to the shop. It is possible that depending on the hone used or clamping protocols used that the hone head overdwelled at the ends of its stroke. At least call them.
It has always been my understanding that the shape and height requirements for the stock one was to reduce the tendency of a liquid to create a vortices hence the shape of the pickup disc. The depth setting was to keep it far enough away from the bottom of the pan as to allow a smooth controlled...
Amen John. Life is short. Bought my last purchase to put my dodge on the track. I’ll be 78 this year but the fires still lit. You have an awesome family sir.
I got the car across the scales. With no one in the car and 2 gals of fuel it hit right at 3400. I’m 260. lol Thats pounds not kilos. Picked up a p/s hose leak and a left rear brake locking up. Those get fixed end of the month. I’m gonna run it on the old shocks. I live in WNC and right near...
I have the speed pro flat tops in mine on LY rods. I didn’t build it. I have built big block Chevys with a honed to slip fit steel on steel. Drilled a small hole in the rod top for pin oiling. You can buy alloy round bar and easily cut pin buttons on a hobby level lathe.
If I remember correctly all of Scat’s H Beams are 4340. The owner would periodically take a sample rod and crank and cut them up. He would send the pieces to a lab for a metallurgy report.
I’m enjoying this thread. I’ve used a lot of 105lsa flat tapped cams in 383/400 small block chevies. 11 to 1 287/295 adv 256/264 @050 .537/.557. 105lsa 99icl. I used aftermarket heads and 1.6 rockers. Made great torque and hp. Sounded wicked. My 440 has 10.5 to 1, CNC stealths, Isky 292 mega...
