I would probably use a 6.700" Molnar connecting rod which I can supply and most likely an ICON piston.
It can be done several several different ways depending on your end goal on compression ratio.

Advertised duration really doesn't mean that much. You need to to be looking at the duration @ .050". That is the number that matters.
With what you're describing I would be looking at a cam that has 212/ 218 duration at .050" ground on 110 degrees.
Anymore than that and you'll be over camming...
Depending on what his fuel volume needs are I would look into a Carter Competition mechanical fuel pump.

Personally I hate to see headers with banged in tubes, and in no way would be banging them in. So if where my car I would do whatever is necessary to not smash a tube.
If your absolutely stuck on that steering box, then reworking the mounts to move the engine over would be the route I would go...
