I was on a job a few years ago with a couple of painters. One of them looked out an upstairs window and noticed the roof was a bit rusty.
Half an hour later he was rolling a couple of coats of ceiling enamel on his van roof.
I've tried finding the photo...on an old hard drive somewhere.
That's what those cheap-*** B-Grade Stock-car racers do I guess.

Years ago a buddy of mine who's wife had a tan chevelle constantly whined she wanted a blue one. So one day he went Sherwin Williams and bought blue paint and rollers and painted it.

I didn't feel like doing the $500 in bodyshop supplies on my 1100, Spraycan gold and 2K spraycan clear. First time for me but it's holding up just fine. I didn't even wetsand and buff it, layed out flat as the prairies.

So: After that experiment I did a similar hack changing out the grille on my Cram. This one I had to finesse.

I’ve heard of a” legit” roll on primer for cars , but not a top coat yet.

Paint job aside, I just can't get past those hideous wheels and tires...

Back in our high school days my buddy and I peeled off his old ripped up vinyl top off his 69 Pontiac Tempest/GTO clone and we used a real nappy roller with some low gloss black paint and rolled/brushed it on. Once dried it sure did look like a vinyl top. Nobody ever noticed or said anything. (To my knowledge). It actually looked pretty good.
Sounds like a more worthy topic than "show us your coffee cup holder"
I knew an old guy years ago ...he would have been the high end of his 70's when I was 19 and had just joined the local Chrysler Restorers Club. He had many cars, but everyone was keen on his '71 Chevelle 454 4-speed car with Lake pipes stuffed with chicken wire mesh. The car had like about 30k miles then..... and had suffered a front-end smash at some time in its history.
The guy who bought @cr8crshr 's Chrysler last year knew him also..... anyway, everyone was trying to buy that car or nail his good-looking daughter in order to inherit it one day....
So the story goes (true actually) ole Vic panelled that fender and got it looking pretty good. He painted it a very close red like the OE.... and his spray gun of choice back then was an attachment that fitted on his Electrolux Vacuum Cleaner.
Vic swore by the vacuum cleaner spray gun. I suspect he had done many of his restorations that way. The car now lives with a younger guy who swapped out the wheels, completely resto-modded the car and clocked a few quarter mile times.
It was a neat car.
I don't have a picture of the car yet...but old Vic is in this photo checking out my second project way back when.... he's checking out how straight the bodywork is....
