What is everyone using for suspension. im in the process of putting together a 408, but my suspension is JUNK. its very bouncy, there so much roll and sway, i want to upgrade it but there dosent seem to be much out there. im looking to stiffen everything up alot. any suggestions?
 
'73 was when they went to the isolated suspension, so things are a bit different than the older cars.
With that said, usually larger Torsion bars are the first place to start. Then checking / replacing all the old rubber parts.
Suspension might need rebuilt after 50 years?
 
There should be a LOT out there for these cars.

I agree- firmer T bars and sway bar.

ISO elimination biscuits (poly or metal) .

Good performance shocks (Like those mentioned above).

Rear bar if it doesn't already have one.

The T bar suspension was WAY ahead of it's time and is easily tunable.
 
i know that 73 was a weird year for these cars, will i need to do anything to get bigger tortion bars in there? or will it just accept bigger bars? like will i need to drill anything out wider to accept the bigger bar or will it just fit? im planning on changing the k member bushings to poly when i get the engine out.

Nothing to drill. The hex head at the end of each bar is the same size as the smaller bars. They will slide right in.
 
You may want to eliminate the iso-clamp setup on the rear-end too.

The iso clamps make for a sloppier ride. Getting rid of that setup will firm up the rear end a bit.

You can source the leaf springs and lower shock mounts from a pre-1973 B body. The non-iso shock mounts will have a smaller hole for the leaf spring stud than the 73 and up does. 73/74 spring retaining studs are 3/8” with a hat shaped bushing to accommodate the isolation pad while 71/72 are 5/16” studs.
