On 68 charger with no instrument lights, and no gages working, is there a place on the cluster to ADD a separate ground wire to be sure the dash is grounded properly?

An extra ground would be a good idea, not sure where the best place to connect to the cluster, or the dash.
Some of the dashes don't ground good the the chassis after repainting them also.

I hoping that is the case as this was painted inside and out….
Need to find that perfect point on gage cluster for a new ground….

Maybe take a screw out of the clock or tach mounting and make a ground wire and use the screw to hold the eyelet , then ground to where the bolt that mounts it the body?

I’ve done this on 66/67 Plymouth clusters but I can’t recall the details. I think I secured the ground lead to a screw on the cast speedometer housing.

The paint is not a problem, the ground happens in the threads of the fastener and under the head of the fastener to you wire terminal.

Yes it won't bother it to have a ground wire to the cluster.

No dash lights is most likely the dimmer thumb wheel. Common problem. No guages is the 5v power supply.

Ok, so is there a way to check the dimmer switch out?
And is the “5v supply” the voltage limiter pressed into the circuit board?

Ohm meter for the dimmer switch. And yes the voltage limiter pressed in should give 5v

Ok thanks…. In your opinion, when replacing the voltage limiter, should i just go with equivalent replacement, or pay the money for the expensive electronic one?

Two (2) grounds in parallel is always good idea, especially on high current devices....ECU MODULE and ALTERNATOR VOLTAGE REGULATOR.....

Well, now have the 2 grounds, and added another to the dash frame all directly from negative terminal on battery….. no dash lights still
Sounds like from ya’ll maybe a new dash dimmer is needed?
Also, no gages, so maybe a new voltage limiter

Sounds as if the best remedy is to trade/sell the car for one without problems......something to drive and enjoy rather than chasing spending $$$ and fixing problems ........???

Probably not your best piece of advice lately :)

Best source for the “electronic “ version of the voltage limiter?

Suggest you call Real Time Engineering and ask them. I believe it's how the Instrument Panel Voltage Regulator is mounted......

Ok, looked like they both push in…. Def call them on monday
