The new (to me) '66 Charger has still got its metal dealership emblem on the trunk lid. For phase 1 of the project, where she still looks ratty on the outside but all the drivetrain and underpinnings are sorted, I am 100% keeping it on there. That said, when it is time for phase two which...
I am 100% certain about the red car being clear glass, but the green one could possibly have tint. Sadly it is very dusty, immobile, and tucked in a dark garage haha. I am starting work on it very soon, and I may use the white paper trick and a flashlight or something to test it.
Hey all. Both my Chargers have regular clear glass, was tint an option in '66? If so, was it still the pale blue? My '59 chevy had the factory blue tint and I loved the look. I live in FL and am considering tinting the car next year BUT only if I can do a passable job of making it look...
Mine is a factory green over black car. I love the beautiful colors of interior available in the Charger, but for the green I specifically wanted a black interior. Blame Steve McQueen for me falling in love with that color combo haha.
Always admired your car! Cosmetically mine will be much more rough around the edges initially, I will be focused on getting it to be a driver as efficiently as possible. Much like my old Chevy, all the stuff you can't see will be beautifully rebuilt and painted haha. I do plan on getting the...
Well I'm back with kind of an unexpected update... I picked up another '66 Charger.
If you've been reading along, you know the idea was for the Cherry Bomb to eventually become a big block, 4 speed car. And if I were to keep it even longer, it would have gone through a color change to GG-1...
Made it through unscathed in St. Pete, just a damaged fence panel at one place, and the fence leaning a bit at the other. Got power back on Sunday, though lots of folks in my area had it back Friday and Saturday. Close call at my fathers place, huge tree fell sideways across the front of his...
I am staying put in St. Pete. My wife works at the hospital and is on the Hurricane Team, they have been called and will be on premises from Tuesday through Thursday. Our home is less than 10 minutes from the hospital.
I am one of the very few people in a situation that may be deemed as...
Floridian here, St. Petersburg out in the Tampa Bay area. The eye cruised right on by us miles off to the west, but the storm surge absolutely wrecked us and all the surrounding coastal areas. Thankfully I live in a neighborhood lovingly nicknamed "Mount St. Pete" for it's unfathomable 45 foot...
That is true, I do also have a page that shows the traditional schematic as well. Irritatingly, the wire colors on that diagram don't match the other diagrams that I posted (which also match the car) so it is a bit tricky to cross reference.
I tried both positions on the switch, as well as disconnected fully, however I cannot remember if I tried a jumper bypassing the switch. Will give that a go. I like your idea of isolating and using a power probe to see what wakes up. Thank you for the ideas.
Hey all. I recently installed a new engine bay and headlight harness in my '66 and several things started behaving better, including the headlight closing circuit. They shut perfectly the moment I connected the battery, which they did not used to do before. Unfortunately, they do not...
Located in Tampa Bay, FL area.
Just pulled these off of my '66 Charger, swapped to a different style of wheel. With a polish these should come up real nice. Deep tread on the tires.
Tires are BF Goodrich Radial T/A white letter. Rears are 295/50/15, fronts are 234/60/14. Not sure of exact...
Here we are, back with another update. I spent some time replacing the hacked up engine bay and headlight harnesses with new ones. Magically several things started working better on the car, who knew! One real pleasant surprise was when I reconnected the battery and the headlights auto-closed...
