...The Firm feel st3 got the feeling like a modern car and i felt more connected to the vehicle movements. (I dont have fast ratio arms.)
The Borgeson was nice but a tad on the light side for my taste. Now after shimming it feels awsome, more fun to drive.
People on forums have shimmed their...
Bergmann got everything right when I bought a Borgeson box and Bergmann coupler..
Questions were answered instantly, all the right parts shipped quickly to the right place on the other side of the planet. I wouldn't go anywhere else now. Glad they're a FBBO sponsor.
The factory box sat at the same angle. It's just that the Borgeson box is a lot smaller so the angle is more noticeable in the void where the original box once sat.
There was no noticeable difference driving the car with the Borgeson box on the angle or with it aligned. It was just my OCD...
Thought I'd add this to your thread before I start my own Borgeson swap. No doubt I'll end up back here for reference and to annoy you with questions..
Borgeson Power Steering Box Troubleshooting
Time to install the Borgeson unit in my 68 Charger.
My car has the full package of subframes, ias shocks, hotchkis front and rear set, boxed lcas etc etc
....and a FF st3 box.
It ran like a gocart, the most enjoyable car I has ever driven.
....but then my federal pump died, changed to saginaw...
Just did a friends 1979 Magnum with a Borgeson conversion from Bergman , this one had the Saginaw pump and Peter fixed me up with everything required. The difference was well worth the investment.
The fast ratio box is probably a Borgeson unit. Bergman auto craft is your best source if you want to go this route. They are a vender on this site. The ratio is a theoretical number for the amount of turns of the steering shaft for one turn of the pitman arm. A 16 to 1 would be four turns of...
I drove my 67 charger project for the first time tonight. 6.4 crate motor, Holly terminator x max system, holley 12.3 digital dash, borgeson stearing box, vintage air, 727 with gear vendors, 4.10 gears.....
I only went a half mile down the road and back, but man....I'm still smiling!
The Borgeson is a simpler and better way to go. Contact Peter Bergman at Bergman Auto Craft. He sells a complete kit that requires no modifications to work. He is a sponsor of this site. I've done 2 installations of these steering boxes ( that were bought from BAC) in these cars....
Both...
Actually, there are no directions included in the kit. The directions are sent via a PDF or some other form. I never got a paper copy of instructions nor did another FBBO member that I did a Borgeson swap for last year.
Nice. Welcome from the central coast of Cal. If you decide to go Borgeson, get it from Peter at BAC. One of our sponsors here and you'll get EVERYTHING you need for the swap. Unlike many other sellers.
Post-installation and drive report - success! No issues. Drives great and I'm very happy.
So after Kern Dog installed the latest generation Borgeson steering box in his '70 Charger and gave it the thumbs up, I bought one for my '68 Satellite. Since KD had just installed his and had some free...
Theoretically a 71 Roadrunner with a firm feel/Borgeson 14:1 steering box, boxed lowers tubular uppers and poly bushings with bigger torsion bars and big sway bars front & rear vs a new M3? which owuld handle better?
When you received your new steering box, did you get the needed fittings for the lines? If not, thats another reason to contact Peter.
Swapping a Borgeson steering box in a 1970 Charger
...in my shop to have three very different suspension set ups in very similar cars so decided to do a comparison test. A 1971 Plymouth Road Runner with a Magnum Force front suspension, a 1969 Plymouth GTX with all the Borgeson stuff done to it and a stock 440 Daytona. Hope you like the video!
