RB engine priming question (Yup, I searched)

It has been my experience with the big block Chryslers that the right bank (2,4,6,8) will prime when #6 cylinder is on TDC and the left bank (1,3,5,7) will prime when #8 is at TDC.

    Where Are the 361 Owners?

The last 361 owner I personally knew died in 1992....my Dad. His 361 powered 1959 Plymouth ran 150 mph on the salt flats in 1959. The engine they said wouldn't run.

    Mystery 440- Help!

This engine has been retired. We have a <9.5:1 roller cammed 451 that has been detuned from 787 HP on pump gas to 580 HP that runs around with 3.55 gears and a 4-spd manual trans in the shop truck. Then there is the 10.2:1 iron headed pump gas 400/450 with a solid flat tappet cam in another...

    400 bigblock 1971 August 22nd production date

Yeah the 1976 block isn't worth squat. I wouldn't put anymore than 750 horsepower through it. Oh, the same goes for the 1971 block too.

Whats decent at the wheels horsepower and torque

Chassis dynos are a funny thing like engine dynos. They are good to test changes like tunes or part swapping but you will get different results on different dynos. I even experienced vastly different results on back to back pulls on a chassis dyno. We went to 'Chrome in The Dome' at Pocatello...

    Hand ring filer vs electric

Exactly my experience right down to the yellow stripe. I loaned out my hand filers 6 years ago and they never came back. See the borrower in town on a regular basis and never asked for them back....I like the electric too much.

    F.A.S.T. 505/535 build

Hi Matt, Cody and I don't even do cylinder heads anymore, out of the business. Have already turned down a lot of work this year in the engine department. I probably won't be of much help but the in-box is cleared.

    HV vs Standard oil pump

If you say so, but that has not been my experience. Maybe that is why God made by-pass valves? Oh, never mind.

    HV vs Standard oil pump

There shouldn't be that much resistance in a HV oil pump unless you are running straight STP. I always use HV pumps and 30W break-in oil in new engines here in the shop. Often priming the engine by hand with a 1/4" drive speed wrench and see 65-70 psi.

    Feedback on my combo.

Love those 63's and took my 1st drivers test in one. 383, headers, push button manual reverse shift automatic. Examiner wasn't impressed and I just barely passed. One weekend Dad and I were at Dick Landy's shop with the '63 and we traveled north to a drag strip with Dick, Doug Lovegrove, and...

    Feedback on my combo.

Before I claimed 40 HP gain I think I might check with this change of compression ratio calculator.................... HP gain with compression change. So I guess it could make an additional 40 HP if you were starting at 4,400HP and added one point of compression.
