I was going to say "how to put lipstick on a pig", but then again, recently one in nice shape showed up at a car show. It attracted way more attention than most other cars!
I'm not going to get my knickers in a twist about if it is a survivor, barn find, whatever. 440 GTX Road Runners were rare. Sunroofs are rare. Blue with red stripes I have to believe is a rare color combo. The combination is likely extremely rare.
Having owned a 73 Road Runner (340) for 42...
My deepest condolences. My wife and I have only been married for 37 years, and I can't imagine losing her.
As others have said, and as painful as it must be, thank you for letting us know. I wish you and your family peace.
Caster is the measurement of how far back the spindle leans. If it is straight up and down (0 caster) the car turns very easy at slow speeds but it will become twitchy at higher speeds. The more positive caster (i.e. leaning backwards) you put in, the more the car will want to go straight. With...
I had a 73 Road Runner for 42 years that was purchased in 1979, so it was original except someone had put a 2 barrel carb on it to attempt to get better gas mileage during the gas crisis (wrong move, but that's what they did).
Anyway, my 73 had the lap belts pulled out, wrapped around themselves...
I seem to recall that most oils for modern engines have about 600 PPM. This fits with the "max of 800", as they probably want to stay we clear of the maximum. Also, if I recall, ZDDP is not good for catalytic converters which is why it as been reduced in modern oils.
Assuming that it has fast acting ZDDP, that sounds to me like a good amount for a break in oil.
In my opinion, I would use an oil that is blended with higher ZDDP levels and not add separate bottles of ZDDP additive. As illustrated by @khryslerkid's post above, adding ZDDP additives can be very...
 Subscribed.
I don't have a 3D printer, but I am getting more and more interested in getting one. If I could scan old Mopar parts and then print them out to replace or repair certain areas, that would be really cool. I'm interested to learn more about costs and what can be done.
My father-in-law and I are very interested in the whole ZDDP thing since he builds engines and has a machine shop. We DON'T want to wipe camshafts on engines we have built - that is expensive! Anyway, we have read a lot about this and spoken to oil company representatives, especially at trade...
A key thing to check here is the fit of the intake manifold to the engine. You've probably already installed the intake manifold but it is good to lay the intake in place bare and then use a feeler gauge to see if both the intake and head surfaces are parallel on both sides. An error of .004" or...
Few people will know the difference, and those that do will likely think it's cool. Those that want to nitpick about it being incorrect for the year:
It's your car - do what makes you happy!
As it is, there were very few 440 Road Runner/ GTX cars made in 1973. A number like 267 comes to mind but is probably wrong. Regardless, there were very few. Sunroofs were also fairly uncommon, as is blue with a red stripe.
I'm looking forward to pictures of the car!
More on building my buddies 440:
Mopar Stage VI heads are raised port heads, so they need a spacer to adapt to the intake manifold. See spacer in the picture below.
But they also mean that a standard valley pan cannot be used since the ports won't line up. We bought a valley pan from Edelbrock...
