Ballpark estimate for the cost to do a 5.7 Hemi swap in a '70 Charger

This guy did a 5.7 swap in a 70 Challenger with a 6 speed attached.... Almost $4000 for the supporting stuff, not including the engine itself! Next he added up stuff directly related to the engine: He did have "Dyno Tune" in the $1474 number, something that may not be necessary. All of...

Ballpark estimate for the cost to do a 5.7 Hemi swap in a '70 Charger

I'm considering all options for this car: Currently, it has it's original 383 with a MP 280/474 cam and it isn't that impressive. It has a decent 727. I want to retain an automatic transmission of some type. I've thought of a stroke kit from the 440 source, I've thought of going with a...

    Random Charger picture thread

Come on, man! I like the stance. The wheels? Nah...The tucked in bumper looks clean. The spoiler looks like a tribute to the 66-67 Charger design. I don't care for the exhaust cutouts but I can see why they were integrated into the valance. The full width taillight is interesting. It seems to be...

    Bitchin' Rides is ending!

I saw this on another forum.... I'd sure like to know how they merged a 67-72 skin over a quad cab late model Chevy truck. It looks like it could be stock.

Beware of nature, it feels no guilt toward any of us.

A month ago my 13 year old nephew said he wants a classic car and wants my help to build it. I have a 71 Duster up the hill that I had planned on building a Plum Crazy Duster 340 clone to make a few bucks but this thing with the kid is so much more important. I’ve always wanted to have a kid to...

    904 trans won't UPshift to 3rd gear

It just hangs in second gear as if I have the shift lever stuck in place. I drove it today and it did the same thing. Imagine the revs at 55 with a 4.10 diff and no third gear. I drove maybe a mile and a half and came back home. Now with it warmed up, I checked the fluid again. ADD one quart...

    PSA about dishwasher machines

I think this may be good advice that I’d be smart to follow. For almost all of our time in this house we have used the pods. I never find any plasticky bits on the dishes or on the inside of the DW but over the last 8 months or so, the pod door sometimes fails to open. Other times it might open...

Dangerous Car Features of the Past

I'm assuming that the "vanity mirror" moniker that I referenced was coined by automakers to avoid liability charges. Maybe it was just a generic term that people disregarded anyway? As in.....WHY do companies call their products sanitary napkins...? We know their one and only use.

How do you remove the axle end play adjuster on an 8 3/4" axle shaft?

I have a few shafts on the rack that measure 30 1/8" and 30 3/4". Those are way too wide for the 68-70 B and any A body so they must have been from a C or E body, maybe a 71-72 B, right? I never memorized the axle shaft lengths for the different chassis letters A-B-C-D.

Dangerous Car Features of the Past

Maybe your humor feature is disabled. You missed not only the joke but the serious part. I wrote that the "vanity mirror" wasn't originally called a make up mirror but for some people, it has become that. Look at the response in pure literal form. I joked about men applying make up because...

Uhhh, that is not a make up mirror. It may have become that but that wasn’t the original intention. No pictures, please.

    PSA about dishwasher machines

Wow, thank you. I had no idea that this existed. I've lived here for 20 years and never serviced any dishwasher here or anywhere. This dishwasher sometimes fails to open the Pod door and the dishes are still dirty.
