Curious about the zinc in break in oils......

What might be happening here is the additive, a compound containing Zinc, does break down, but the element zinc does not leave, except by what might be found in the filter or at an oil change.

How often do you replace your laptop computer?

I have went thru maybe 6? Chromebooks and 5? laptops in past 12 years, I like the chrome books. I am tough on electronics, I get a problem, I toss them, buy new. I mostly use them for travel and internet only, anything important is on a non-internet connected desktop computer. I also easily have...

Curious about the zinc in break in oils......

"If your entire oil supply is so coagulated" That is not the level that is required to cause a large filter oil bypass condition, what is needed is just enough to block the filter media. And what will flow thru bearings I believe in most cases is much larger than what most filters will...

Curious about the zinc in break in oils......

Well, I assume if one has a stopped-up oil filter that is bypassing 100% or even the earlier mentioned 88% of the oil flow, something must be visible to the nmaked eye on the filter media.

Curious about the zinc in break in oils......

Except it is still unknown what we are maybe trying to avoid filtering here flies or pigs for instance, as I have no idea what coagulates maybe forming in our DIY oil cocktails. This whole line of thought got derailed partly in replies #1 &#7 IMO, and aptly debunked since. I do have a question...

Curious about the zinc in break in oils......

The point of zinc stopping flow thru an oil filter was questioned very early on in this thread and evidence was never shared to back up that contention. I can't dispute the concept of zinc "dissolving" in oil, but I do question if other additives/detergents' intentionally or coincidently might...

Curious about the zinc in break in oils......

I was under the impression AP SN rating does not directly address "detergents", it rates more performance of the oil and the quantity of additives such as zinc. Detergents are left up to the blender as long as they do not obstruct the oil from performing to the standard being sought. BTW, I...

Pull Engine Time: Hood On or Off?:

Of course, with a lift off hood the question is somewhat moot, regardless of the removeable center section of my radiator core support. to assist engine swaps.

    Made in USA, Really?

So right now, I am debating because I have a lack of knowledge if I am arguing with a liar or someone without a clue, because I have yet to be shown any basis on Tony's part he had an intention to lie. You obviously cannot or will not take that into account. All your other points are superfluous...

    Made in USA, Really?

This is a good proven path to run many away, when an apology cannot without a full-blown pile on be accepted from those who at face value mean no harm it seems. I am not defending Tony, I have already shared what I think on the man in a civil way that is likely correctable and am willing to...

    Made in USA, Really?

I am not defending him, I am defending fairness. And thank you in proving my point in the scarcity of many unable to offer an apology when they have stepped over the line, like I submit you did and I subtly gave you the opportunity to do so. but you just chose to double down.

    Made in USA, Really?

Dude, a lie requires intent. You already labeled the man an "ignoramus", you have told us you forced yourself to watch the video, that is on you, and now you want to kick the "clown" while he is attempting to apologize and calling him a "liar" without offering any proof? Shall we burn him at the...

    Made in USA, Really?

Good for him:thumbsup:, but I am not inclined to do a victory dance when another apologizes. His delivery is still slightly annoying.

Who has the older aluminum 3 speed OD transmission and how much power are you putting to it?

I suppose that is great news, but at what does this make any sense, vs just changing out the rear end ratio and/or adding a Passon Alum 833 case?

    Remote oil filter question

How are you sure oil is running thru it?

Who has the older aluminum 3 speed OD transmission and how much power are you putting to it?

But isn't the actual load on 4th gear (OD) the "kindest" of the four, although it gets the most usage/mileage?

    Dodge 1963 440 engine options

A 426 MW was mostly a limited drag car marketing exercise. Other than beefing up the drivetrain, I can't see them doing much of anything say to the braking system as much sense as might make for safety. Back then it was all becoming all about weight. I am sure others will definitively answer...

    Made in USA, Really?

That is IMO the quiet before the storm. Japan did the same thing, until they became a leader in many areas. I expect China will have the same success.
