I agree those cams are pretty mild. I have stamped rockers on my 440 six pack running Hughes 2328BL 223/228 - 506/524 - 111LSA 108 centerline since 2009 with zero issues.
This cam is mild and my power brakes have plenty of vacuum.

Agree with beanhead. You're also right, 1 tooth over prob will be 8-2 o'clockish. Tells me timing chain is loose or cam is ground or installed retarted.

I'd say first make sure it is running out of gas. When it stalls like that, before doing anything pull the air cleaner off and look down the center carb as you work the throttle to see if the accelerator pump is discharging fuel through the squirter. No pump shot, no gas in bowl - pump shot then...
Tough to troubleshoot via forum as can be so many issues, one or combination of issues. Symptoms sounds like lean to me, not rich, fuel dribbling could be 'cause blades are open in transition area so that's why idle mixture screws in all the way are not stalling the motor.

Well now we know it's not off idle stuff but secondaries kicking in too fast. Now most likely a spring change is needed in your vacuum secondaries.

To clarify, if it's off idle (not anything to do with secondary kicking in) focus on accelerator pump adjustment and possibly a change to a different pump cam if the adjustment doesn't cure it. If it's the secondary bog then a spring change is needed as said. I also adjust mine wide open and...
If it only happens off idle my bet is it's dealing with the accelerator pump. Possibilities are wrong pump cam or out of adjustment as stated assuming pump is new or ok.
