I have a 8HP70 8 speed bolted up to a 426 R3 SB engine all works fine but the starter is hard against the TTI headers & the clockable SB units are different.
Looks good to me same as mine did you notice if the fluid was frothing or the box was groaning good sign of air in the system .Even if the returns back to the resivior were restricted it would only effect the pedal return.
The rod to piston clearance is quite critical on the HB i usually allow...
Must have been unlucky to have 3 x failed pumps if the fluid circuit was correct & the output of the pump was blocked the pump would load up & get extremely hot ,if it was flowing correctly it should not hurt the pump it is also possible the hydroboost was faulty i have installed 6 of these...
Most of them seem to do it it looks like the higher the psi & pump flow rate the less the issue .
I have tried drilling the return close to thread size with little effect on pedal return rate & why would the manufacturer supply with a certain size orifice only to have them drilled out.

Thanks think those pumps are around 1350 psi i have them on my 340 engines yes i have tried drilling the return orifice a couple of sizes bigger without any change
