Nope. I have seen numbers in the teens on blocks and if I remember, they were towards the end of their production life. Like a 72 or 73 340 block.

After the block casting number is a -3. What does that stand for. I always thought it was revisions to the mold yet I hear someone else said it's the pours out of the same ladle at the foundry. (I doubt)

Probably not correct. The factory decks were quite rough.

I prefer on the tread simply because laying flat on the sidewalls makes them difficult to air up when remounted when they are all smashed down.
