As an option and what I do, zinc plate the part and use a black chromate. I have a Caswell zinc kit and works well. It is more work than Parkerizing and it has a bit of a rainbow look that Parkerizing doesn't have. But, it will last for years and years with no maintenance. No one can tell the...
I used a PPG pre-flattened clear on top of the purple overspray and the epoxy primer. Looks right and super easy to clean. D8115-D8117 Matt Clearcoat System | PPG Global
Worked great. I have tried flattening paints in the past and hard to be consistent. This makes it easy. Yes, had to tape off...
Perfect and thank you for your help. I am aware of your resto link at B-bodies Only but forgot about charger forum. I looked for the clamp with the screw in the service manual but didn't see them, only the clips. Suprised there is such little info on that and the body fuel line routing. Mine was...
Trying to determine where these clips go for the fuel line from the tank to engine (Orange circle). I bought a "kit" and came with these. The Service book is void of information for the body fuel line. I understand where the other "pop in" clips go and are no issue. Just these. Also the screws...
Replaced everything and was from M&H. I will add, I contacted their customer service a couple of times with questions and found them to be excellent. Very little wait time and super responsive. The customer service on something like this is valuable when questions come up. Their kit for the...
I just went through the dash wiring myself on a '70 RR. The wires you mention ARE for the Charger headlight and not used for the RR. But according to M&H, they are HOT! You must tape them off or you they will cause a short. Also do not cut the ring terminal off. I would suggest you call M&H...
To close this out. I used an original different color cover panel and painted it black. There still is slight evidence of the crack at the bottom. The fit was much better and especially along the sides. Compare this to the picture on the first post. The original will still not go flush to the...
Thanks I will give it a shot. The original I have that is cracked, fits quite a bit better on the sides but still just a bit short. The repop is a mess. I'll give the original a shot of SEM black and see if I can adjust. Both covers have alignment pins on the back which will limit the upward...
According to all of the parts sites, the one I have is correct for a rallye dash. See attached. The first is a Rallye dash and the second is for Non rallye. Plus in my picture, the opening matches the opening in the dash panels. Using the non Rallye piece, it would not match up.
The nut clips...
I bought a repop cover and it has a gap of about 1/8" from the lower dash panels. See orange circle in picture. I compared it to a broken original and mounts the same. No real way to get this wrong.
Is this normal? It is semi flush at the bottom and not bad.
BTW, now that the dash pad issue is solved, time to install the dash! Once installed, the fit to the A pillar was a bit different on either side due to the dash being off centered by an 1/8" or so. It was a very tight fit and no changing that. Moving on....
Good news and found a solution! It turns out the pad that was too short was a repop that I had bought in 2019. It wasn't a recover job and I guess my memory isn't what it used to be. I complained about the fit and was able to return. They said they hadn't had any complains in the past about the...
I talked with Gardner exhaust and also about the hemi mufflers I had and if he knew anything about those. He said Mitchell Motor Parts had those made by a muffler company back in the day. He said they were reproductions of the hemi muffler and fit and worked like the hemi muffler. But was never...
So maybe the markings on these mufflers are not exactly the same as they were when the cars came from the factory in 1970. But maybe are what Mopar replacement mufflers look like a couple of decades later. That's good enough for me!
What is the correct number? I think the part number is correct. Not that worried about it but have had these for years and really don't want to spend $$ on a new ones. Just curious if anyone knew anything about that muffler?
I found this old thread and have the exact same muffler and markings as in the first pic. These were bought from Mitchell Motor Parts 20+ years ago. They were literately on a fire sale because they have cosmetic damage that can be seen. Does anybody know anything about these? Maybe an early...
Will do. I think the goal will be to make the filler piece bridge the gap and so not to draw your eye to it so quickly. Damage control....... I can't wait and need to get the dash in to keep the project going. If I were looking to buy a new dash pad, first thing i would ask is how long the pad...
