If that's a factory Six Pack engine I believe they and their air cleaners were all orange. The DUPLICOLOR DE1631 is what I painted my 1973 340 and it looks just right and just like your pictures.
Haven't fired the engine yet. Been working on the rest of the floors, body work and painting the engine compartment and jambs. Discovered that the cam in the engine was a Comp Cams 268H. From receipts I found it seems the last rebuild by the previous owner was in 1994 at an unknown mileage. The...
I used D&R Chrome for the bumpers on my '73 RR. Dropped them off at a car show, picked them up several months later at another car show so shipping wasn't involved. Beautiful chrome and the best price I could find. 1-855-324-7663
D&R Chrome
A previous owner of my 73 RR clipped the vapor return line at rubber connector between the front and rear sections and removed everything in front of that. I found a vapor canister/mount and ordered new lines from SS tube. Looking at the shape I believe I am trying to route the vapor return line...
I am. I see you say "1 small rust spot. Minor damage." I can see the rust spot in your picture but what is the minor damage? I am trying to do a restoration with little to no filler.
Where in Wyoming are you located? Interested.
Hmmm, just saw that you are in Basin and Google mapped it. Looks like 8 hours from our place. Will probably need to pass for now. If you ever head down close to Colorado let me know.
I have never seen so much BS. So this is the communications between myself and PartsHawk:
Good afternoon, We are writing to inform you that your most recent order has unfortunately been cancelled. Upon inspection of your ordered item, quality control found that the item was defective, and we...
And I received a message through Amazon from PartsHawk that they weren't available even though Amazon showed several sets left in stock. Bet they are available at the $309.00 price!!:wtf:
I purchased them at the $101.00 price but it now looks like the price has been corrected to $309.99. Bummer. But it has dropped from 8 sets available after my purchase on March 9th to 4 sets available in a couple of days so maybe a few folks got a deal!
Hmm, thought the stock bore of a 340 was 4.04. Is the piston pin position incorrect for a 340? Also just looked them up at Summit, you are correct so my boo-boo. But at that price I will probably just keep them. I did edit my first post so nobody is misled.
Just purchased a set of new KB107.040 360 pistons on Amazon for $101.00 with their free shipping. Don't know if it's a short term pricing mistake or not, but at that price I figured it was worth it just to have them. As of 03/09/24 it shows they have 8 more sets...
These are in great shape. The mounting studs threaded out of the fillers but the threads are in good shape and some penetrating oil could probably convince the nuts to come off the studs.
Figured I would post them here before putting them on eBay next week.
$100 for the pair plus $20 shipping...
Yep, it's beyond crazy. I bought that car for $1,200, probably invested $3,500 in restoring it (plus a year of my labor and beer expense for me and a buddy). I remember bitching that rechrome cost $125 per bumper, the decal set was just about $100 and urethane paint was over $100 a gallon.
When...
I often wonder if this car survived. It was my first of a couple restorations I did in the late 80's and sold it in the early 90's in Denver, CO.
1971 Road Runner, 383, 4 speed, 15" Rallyes, factory hood pins, dual painted mirrors, air grabber car. I restored it totally stock other than chin...
I thought I had accumulated all the parts to reassemble the front end on my '73 Road Runner. However, it seems the strut rod bushings that are clamped in place around the rod itself are not in any of the kits and I can't seem to find them online. Any ideas?
When I tore down my 340 I noticed the cam bearings were not centered in their bores. Didn't think much about it, just thought whoever built the motor the last time was sloppy. However, when I went to install the new bearings I noticed the oiling holes in the black on #2,3 and 4 aren't nearly...
