I would try to isolate 1 cylinder at a time by grounding the wire to see if you can find the cylinder misfiring. Then measure the resistance and examine the wire carefully for damage or possibly a bad terminal connection. If the wire looks good then measure the end-to-end resistance of another...
Just my opinion but a trap speed of 96.5 mph is not that inconsistent with a 14.67 quarter time. The 60 ft, time indicates you might be able to whittle that ET down some with some more traction or different launch technique. I live in the past and a lot of good, stock muscle cars in the 60s...
One consideration is that with the shifter mounted directly in front of the bench it won't be able to be moved forward to let people in the back, etc. I ran this way for a while and if I wasn't going to go back to column shift I was going to build a tall bracket the mounted the shifter high...
I'd just use a solid mount on the drivers side, and a stock rubber on the pass side. Adds strength, but not all the vibration of two solid mounts.
But then, my hotrods just use elephant ears. (And mid mounts).
If your door sags that is why the post and latch is worn. When you close the door it has to ride up over the post to latch closed. New hinges should solve that once the door is properly aligned. Start there. It might be all you need.
My Barracuda with a basic build 340 - 9.5-1, fairly mild cam, J-heads, Holley 750 DP 4 speed, 3.91s, around 3400 lbs ran a best of 13.26 at around 100 mph right off the street on BFG radial T/As, only mod was lowering tire pressure. It did some tuning to get there as I started out in the low...
By the way, I hate to bust your bubble @FU64RY but there is already a post on this…. RIP Professor (Mecum), although I suppose it doesn’t hurt to have another.
Rest In Peace Mr. Kraman, your wealth of knowledge was 2nd to none. You will be missed by all on and off tv. I saw at least 2 episodes of the auction without him where Bill Stephens was filling in for him, and they said he was home not feeling up to par but they did not make it sound all that...
I also worked in precision sheet metal shops for 30+ years and did plenty of spot welding. A spot weld test would be performed to check them and a good spot weld would pull a hole in one of the pieces of metal before the two pieces coming apart. good spot weld is usually actually stronger than...
It's a great detector but it's become too heavy to swing for an all-day hunt (usually 5+ hrs). Kills my rotator cuff and elbow.
The Manticore is so much lighter, and the tech is much better than the V3i. My buddy swings the Deus II and we've found that our old sites are almost new again with...
My '63 Sport Fury factory Max Wedge? Non-original 13 1/2 motor, rebuilt manual shift, reverse pattern TF, 4.11 gears. Modifications by the original owner, body wrinkles by the second owner's brother's motorcycle and improvements and upgrades by me, the third owner. 22,400 miles on the speedo. PM...
