The best way would be to build in between the rafters, like putting in a skylite. You will have to build an extension on you existing roof line to aquire your height of lift at the lowest point of existing ceiling. If you put in the bigger garage door you will lose a lot of storage space at front...
...from the bottom. Only way to go, especially if you were rebuilding the front end anyway.
I also used a cherry picker to raise the front of the car and formed some crude wooden cutouts, perched on top of two furniture dollies to rest the drivetrain on. Took less than two hours for the install.
...to assist for stopping the additional weight. In the past, I've rented trailers and towed combined loads of over 4500 lbs I've rented tow dollies and dragged cars home, again...on flat ground.
Today I went to help a friend buy a '78 Dodge truck that had no engine but on the way there, I found...
...Self-Loading Dolly (harborfreight.com)
I have this set, which are a step up from the Pittsburgh ones, and they work very well. The Daytona dollies are rated for an 11" tire, but a 12" fits. The coupons and sales usually don't apply to the Daytona line, but these do go on sale from time to time.
...tops to MY height (I'm 6'4" and HATE bending over all the time), and bought some flat mid-gauge stainless skin. Love 'em.
Wheel skate dollies. The hydraulic foot-pedal roller-type, put them around the wheel like a fork, step on the pedal to squeeze the rollers together and pick up the wheel...
I have never liked those tow dollies. I would likely rent the trailer with the d150, then have a "problem" that required you to use the jeep.
(Le baron race car? What does it weigh?)
...seems to baffled by it lol , axle was free so just used box tubing and mounted it to stock k member spots in the frame , its a lot easier and safer for me to move the car around by myself getting on and off the trailer when needed vs casters . just put dollies under tires to turn it or floor jack
So, I have one set already that I got at Carlisle years ago. Looking to get another set (mainly because where I have to put one of the cars for the winter, I can't get one side out...and I'll need to move another car after that one). HF has them as low as $99/ea...I'd swear I paid much less than...
...adjust it, and get it up to temp and set the idle and stuff...but that, and a brake bleed, are on the list for this weekend after I get it on dollies and out of the corner of the shop where its been for 8 or 9 years lol.
If you are having a fuel-drain problem, you can always install an...
Great ideas fellas! Any reason why jack stands on those car dollies wouldn't work?? Fear of sliding off?? Empty body frame? Strictly for assembly purposes.
...old Zetor with the blower on and the old GMC plow truck so I'm not shovelling snow off anything. Moved my 16' work table solo sgain using car dollies and also managed to roll my 4 foot shear into the JD410's bucket and move it out of the shop and into the hangar, so I have some more work...
...than the front, especially with the taller rims. With this combo I think the rear sidewall is roughly 1/4" taller than the front. With the 295s I think is about 1/2 inch taller. Its a little tough to analyze on the wheel dollies. I need to let gravity dictate the final stance when I get there.
