I used the MSD Atomic EFI kit on my corvette and have been pretty happy with it. It was gutless with a carb and is still gutless, but other than that everything improved with that kit. The kit I have is older and out of date but I’d imagine the next gen would be even better.

66-69 B bodies were BENDIX 4 piston calipers.
66-68 C bodies were BUDD 4 piston calipers.
65-72 A bodies were Kelsey Hayes 4 piston calipers.
And NO, you can't mix mash different systems together to make something work out.

It is not fire soot, it seems the car was greased with motor oil when it was parked, it has been cleaned and the paint is surprisingly good for its age.
When the car gets back I will post fresh pictures of everything.

I think the japanese lantern style collapsible column cover is slightly waved so that during impact it folds up as designed instead of randomly distorting.
