383 Rebuild - New Piston Suggestions

75 cc heads would give you 10.43 compression that would work with alum heads

383 Rebuild - New Piston Suggestions

9.2 compression with aluminum heads will like having about 8.4 compression with iron heads. need a 11 cc dome will give you 10.25 compression just right for the alum heads.

383 Rebuild - New Piston Suggestions

the cost is 850.00 for a custom made piston for a 383 that is a justified cost.

383 Rebuild - New Piston Suggestions

is there a reason why no one wants to order custom pistons ? for 850.00 you can get exactly what you need. seems like everyone is happy getting inferior trw, kb or icn pistons and then decking, milling and trying to find a head gasket that might work.

383 Rebuild - New Piston Suggestions

I looked on Hughes engines more than 850 for forged and 500 for Hypertech pistons that are not made to what exactly you need. now add how much to deck the block and mill the heads for non custom pistons.

383 Rebuild - New Piston Suggestions

sorry i don't get it. just get the right piston with the right compression height, dome or dish and lighter weight. instead deck the block and mill the heads get a leak prone steel head gasket and then with all the decking and milling the engine runs hotter. then you still don't really have...

some testing that was done says that as long as the piston is no more than .055 total with head gasket in the hole it makes as good of a quench as .030 total or anything in between.

been using auto-tech or called race-tech same thing. a lot better price then je or diamond. you need the right piston lighter weight for performance and less pressure on your bearings, thin rings, stronger plus you get the right compression height and compression. it could keep you from decking...

again details matter lol :). that was back in 2004 I think mine came out to 9.8 now that I think about it. it was a 1965 Chrysler 300L had to be careful with the total timing for pinging. it was a heavy car.

my 413 .030 over with 79cc heads 8cc valve notches .038 head gasket with 4.45 bore and .005 in the hole pistons was 9.75. I would never use a steel .020 head gasket which I think you were thinking of.

    12cc - 15cc on a 440 closed chamber but with a 413 you get away with about 7cc - 10cc with closed chamber.

diamond pistons made me set for my 413 years ago and they had flat tops with 4 valve notches which took -6 or -8 cc off can't remember. the D shaped for the 440 had a -14 cc.

BS on changing tire alignment specs from stock.

yes i drove cars like that new and old because the alignment was not close to factory specs or worn parts. I don't think anyone on this thread or reading this thread would think a car like the way you first got your valiant would be happy with it that way.

BS on changing tire alignment specs from stock.

you're kidding right ? if my caster is not 5* positive am putting others at risk ? but if I text and talk on the phone, not pay attention, do drugs and drink and speed on a busy road I should be alright as long as my alignment is where you say is good ? or could it be that 4-door cars are less...
