Probably a stupid question, but I need some help. Where is the best place to get switched power for my radiator fans on my 72 roadrunner? Do I need to route all the way back to a wire under the dash or is there a location in the engine compartment that will work?
While not a complete wiring...
Thanks for the new green car pictures. I thought this thread had died and really haven't been watching it. I appreciate it!
We have torn the car down and should be ready for a paint and body man (which I am definitely not) in the next week or two. I am trying to take all the pictures I can...
Oh great. If there were no hp's in 72 then I probably should have bought it. But it wasn't what I would call cheap. Would probably have purchased it if it wasn't tax time and I didn't have to worry about the next four years. But that's another story. Lol
No I passed on the 400. Will probably regret it someday but if I am going to buy another motor I want it to be a 400 hp and this one wasn't. The 72 440 we bought at Christmas 2 years ago on the idea it gave us more options on cars we could buy. As luck would have it the car we found was also a...
Then what do I need to get?I thought 480hp/528torque sounded pretty good from a 9.27 compression 440 but I must admit I've never used an edelbrock camshaft before. Always ran competition cams before we bought the Mopar. The package just sounded easy. Am very open to suggestions.
I am in the process of building a 72 440 for our roadrunner and am seriously considering an edelbrock power package for the engine. I am looking for any opinions on this upgrade. I would buy most of the parts in the kit new anyway and the only thing I have for heads are the stock 346's which...
BS71, I will take your word on the ordering info explanation. U have a lot more history with this stuff than me. I was taking the word "must" literally and no doubt shouldn't have. Besides, dark green on bottom and light green on top would be even more strange I think.
CoronetRTGuy, I parked...
I think the top picture is GF3 and the bottom pic is GF7. Both cars look really good to me but I have to admit I like the lighter color better when you add the black vinyl top. The contrast really makes it pop.
As for our car, it's GF7 on top and GF3 on bottom. We know now it matches the...
I too like the looks of the green Charger. I really like the vinyl top on the green. We have decided to paint the car one of the two original colors, most likely the lighter color. If we can make it look like the 71 GTX then that's what we will do but I'm not sure about the two tone yet. I...
I don't understand what you meant by second pic but we think the GTX is beautiful. If we can get that paint for the car I'm pretty sure that's what we will go with. Looks a lot different fresh as compared to our 40 year old version. Haven't decided on two tone or black vinyl top though.
Thanks guys for all the advice. I have pretty much decided to let my son make the decision and just go with what he wants. We need to repaint the car regardless. If he likes green, two tone green, or purple so be it. It's just always been hard for me to agree to color changes on cars and the...
Thanks for the insight. You have a point about chasing a date coded motor but I already have the 72 440 that needs rebuilt and the 72 400 I am looking at has a lot of 72 RR original pieces (manifolds, carb, air cleaner, etc.), is rebuilt and ready to "drop in" at what I thought was a fairly...
This car is beautiful!! If ours looked like that I would be a happy man. Is that the GF3 paint -- Amber Sherwood or something else? And is it supposed to be a metallic paint? Can anyone tell me where to find the paint chart for a 72 RR?
I'm not a fan of shag carpet green either. LOL You can't tell from the pics but the grill is in fact complete and in remarkably good shape. I think the car spent a lot of time inside as the underneath is very solid too with not much more than surface rust. We have a 1972 440 from a new...
I found the only pic on my phone that I have of the fender tag. Not easy to read all of it but the codes in question seem pretty clear. I will take another pic of the tag tomorrow if need be.
I really appreciate all the help.
No unfortunately it's not a 4 speed. It is a slapstick 727. I'm not sure he could drive a 4 speed anyway. Nobody's cars or trucks are like that now. Yeah he would learn but a 4 speed was just in the way when I was hauling my honey. Lol. We spent 2 years looking for a car that needed little to...
