Put heavy grease on your drill bit and thread tap to grab the steel chips, to prevent them from falling into the converter. I have done this before on converters without drain plugs. I don't think this affects the balance of the converter much, because I think the weight of the plug would be...

Pedal all the way up, adjust the forks threaded push rod until you only have about 3/16" of play between rods nut/washers and the fork "socket", when pulling the fork back.

Just as an aside... two different eyes - blue and gold/brown - is "acceptable" per breed standards for Huskies, but not for Malamutes. Malamutes must 'match' and be brown. A blue eye in a Malamute would disqualify them from a show or registration as a pure breed, but doesn't make them any less...
