Do you need a special timing set when switching to a roller cam in a big block?

I appreciate the patience with me on this stuff. I'm guessing that fore/aft movement of the cam has to be limited to keep the lifter wheels in proper contact. I've never checked to see how close the timing chain is to the back side of the timing cover. The cover always slipped in place and I...

Do you need a special timing set when switching to a roller cam in a big block?

The stock roller cams in the 1992-2002 5.2 and 5.9 engines were cast iron.

Do you need a special timing set when switching to a roller cam in a big block?

Thanks guys. This is new to me. I read that the Torrington bearing for the cam sprocket was recommended but I wanted to make sure. Regarding the cam button….010 sure isn’t much. I’m guessing that you have to account for the thickness of the timing cover gasket when measuring?

Do you need a special timing set when switching to a roller cam in a big block?

Hello, I am slowly coming around to making the switch to a roller cam for my 440/495. I thought in my travels here and there that these require a special timing set where the cam sprocket has a Torrington bearing. Is that true?

    Annoying TV ads part 15

They still used the same house and driveway that the Road Runner was in. Another thing about that new ad that I noticed is FEWER white people in it, as if only people of color got fat and wanted a shortcut to being in better shape.

What's it Worth WIW: 1970 B body front bench seat ?

I'm not the greedy type. At the same time, it sucks to price something well below it's value.

What's it Worth WIW: 1970 B body front bench seat ?

I have a well seasoned front bench seat that was standard in the low line 1970 Chargers. If I recall correctly, the seat frame also fits the Belvedere, Coronet and Road Runner models. As you can see, it has headrests. The tracks move fore and aft just fine. Obviously the left upper...

How do you test valve springs for their rate and their remaining life span?

I'm contemplating a switch to a roller cam in my car and I've wondered about the springs. How does one determine if a valve spring is still good and what the rate of it is? A Google search turned up this...

2025 Mopar Spring Fling at Willow?

Speaking for myself, I welcome any scenic drive that encompasses a similar distance and level of beauty. I did enjoy the cruise all these years but an alternate route can be an improvement.....something new for the regulars to see.

    Site freezing up

A couple of weeks ago that very thing was occurring to me while on my email site and two other car forums. Lately it has sometimes happened here but not that often. I thought that my computer was to blame. It seems if it is only on a couple of sites, the problem shouldn't be related to the computer.

Camshafts: All else being equal, what does an increase in LIFT have on performance?

Part of the reason that I was curious about this is because I'm rebuilding a 360 for a Dart. The engine I have came to me with Hughes 1.6 roller rocker arms. Also, I noticed that Hughes brand camshafts seem to favor higher lift than I'm used to seeing elsewhere.

Post up facts and things that hardly anyone knows...... (for entertainment purposes only. NO need to fact check)

In the town Barrow located in Alaska, the sun sets on November 18th and rises on January 23rd. During this period, there is darkness for 67 days. Without saliva, humans are unable to taste food. When a lioness is in heat, she mates up to 50 times a day with multiple partners over a period of...

Would like your opinion on a new drink holder for 67-70 B bodies

In 2021 when I swapped in the Tremec, I decided to change the appearance of my console. I had the traditional woodgrain applique but went a different route after the transmission swap. A similar black type console door would be great.

I can only guess what it must feel like to lose a spouse. Your pain must be all encompassing and crippling. Hopefully you have some support to get you though this. Family, kids, friends, maybe a support group is one thing you might consider. I think of how devastated that I would be if I were to...

How often do you replace your laptop computer?

The one that I use is a Hewlett Packard and about 4 years old. Restarts don't seem to help, clearing cookies doesn't either. The wife thinks that laptops wear out and need periodic replacement and since she works for a software corporation, I would tend to believe that. Being a car guy though, I...
