Would like your opinion on a new drink holder for 67-70 B bodies

So earlier I posted a thread entitled “Sacrilegious or Practical?” on a drink holder I made for the center console of my 1969 Charger. Picture one was on the thread.

Several members commenting on that thread said they really liked the cup holder I made and would be interested in buying one.

The big problem with manufacturing the drink holder is trying to match the woodgrain pattern on the center console. You can see from the first picture I purchased the OEM woodgrain vinyl, and it didn't even match my console.

It's almost an impossible task because everyone's woodgrain pattern will be a little different. It will depend on where and when your car was manufactured, what die lot they had that day, how long your car has been in the sun and how much the woodgrain has faded etc.

I decided to not try to match the woodgrain but instead go for a carbon fiber look for a contrast. See pictures two, three and four.

So, the question is, what do you think? Do you think the Carbon Fiber goes well with the woodgrain? Any other ideas of a look you would like better?

I believe the center consoles were the same for 67 thru 70, Chargers, Coronets, GTX’s and Roadrunners so this would fit any of them. (someone correct me if I'm wrong or if there are other cars that used the same center console).

Cost would be $200. Is this something you would be interested in?

Let me know,

Thanks, Vance

Good solution if you are looking for one or maybe a road trip. I don't usually drive with a drink and just put my phone on the console door.

We have very wide bottom mugs that would take a lot to tip over.
On road trips by myself I shut the phone off. Spent over half of my life without one. If my wife is travelling with me we might have the phone on, most likely not.
That’s just us.

I think your idea is wonderful, and your initiative on this is commendable. I don't have a console, but if I did, I think I would prefer a woodgrain style ( even if the pattern wasn't exact ) over your alternative. My thought is, IF it were manufactured by the factory then, that's what it would look like.

Matching woodgrain not an issue for me. It does not match now. I’m in.

Same as Dennis, I’ll go with the woodgrain
Assume postal money order is ok
PM me the info

I would build it with nothing and let the customer put whatever they want on it.

I like both the wood grain and the carbon fiber, I would actually match the console and the dash with it too.

Looks good. First stab on a healthy big block will send drinks flying into the back seat.
As a rule, I don't eat or drink in any of my cars, even the daily drivers. Fucks a car up.

I would possibly be interested in one of these for a '67, my console has no wood grain anyhow. Great job making these.

I think you might have to modify your existing top plate. If you were around in the late 60’s and 70’s you could have really enjoyed it. But in this date and time do you still need it? My humble opinion.

Nice. I don't have a B body anymore but if I did I'd want one of these because console doors SUCK.

In my late model Ram the cup holders have three cushion/protrusion things around the bottom to keep cups solid. There's zillions of cheapo options for inserts. I'm the same though, I really try not to eat or drink in the car if I can help it. Definitely no coffee.

Not sure, the flip compartment door looks the same shape. I've never compared the wood grain ones to the chrome ones in '67 to know if it would fit.

And yeah, I hate driving with a coffee or drink between my legs, this would be a great addition. Maybe he can make one like the chrome '67 doors.

In 2021 when I swapped in the Tremec, I decided to change the appearance of my console. I had the traditional woodgrain applique but went a different route after the transmission swap.

A similar black type console door would be great.
