Wide lobe center and extra exhaust duration. My blown 340 from memory is around 245/255, 540/560 112 lca. For years it had 214/224, 447/467 114 lca. The bigger cam with a looser converter was worth .7 in ET and 5 mph. Drives the same on the street. Even when it had a tight converter it drove...
Don't worry about it. Chrysler designed the Street Hemi to drive in all kinds of weather right down below the freezing range. On a hobby car any slight reduction in cold engine driveability won't be noticed. I drove them for close to 40 years and I don't think I ever had the heat tubes hooked up.
Pictures are a little tough to see, but it looks like a "Dakota" roller bearing was pressed into the hub. This was a common fix for cranks that were not finished for a standard .940 pilot bushing. Pull the whole assembly out, and the converter hub will fit.
I posted on your other thread. Just take the pilot bearing out of the crank. What is all the gray stuff smeared around the bolt heads? I hope thats not ARP thread lube. If it is take it apart and clean it all off. I use Loctite.
Starting to come together! I had to burn a patch in the torsion support. The AMD stuff fits nicely. You have to cut and modify to get a good fit. And you can never have enough vice grips doing this stuff! I’ll fit the hood, fenders, valance, and whatever I can to make sure it’s right.
I can't see what's going on in your picture, the resolution is too low. You may need to pull out a pilot bearing to make room for the torque converter snout.
