I've got a new friend with a 1971 Plymouth Satellite Sebring Plus that came with a 383 2bbl, half vinyl top, power windows, power breaks, power steering, ac, etc. I don't know if this means it came with heavy duty torsion springs or not. He has swapped in a 440 so now he's putting out 400+hp...
The CFM is measured on a different inches on a two barrel than a four barrel.
In 1959 you could get a high deck 383 and that manifold would fit on a 413/440
but I do not know why you would care to do so. a 500 or 600 CFM two barrel.
would not flow near as much as a 500 or 600 four barrel.
My...

Took my '66 out for a drive and a nice, soapy bath today. I've really missed driving this car! Gotta get that slow leak fixed on the LF tire, as it only had five pounds of air this morning.
383 were available with 2 bbl. Never heard of 413-440 having a 2 bbl.
The later 383 & low performance 440s had a 625 cfm Carter AVS. Performance 440s had a 750 cfm AVS. Both excellent carbs.
^^^^^^^. Very true. The crap in the atmosphere settles on the battery & can certainly be conductive, especially with moisture & high humidity. This could drain the battery, but this would proably take days or weeks.
Having the oil holes facing up [ incorrect ] just means the oil will take a bit longer to flow out of the shafts. The shafts in post #36 look in better shape than some shafts that had the oil hloes correctly orientated.
Okay, the OE's in my Superbird's 440 are now 55.5 years old. Checked them last year and they're still all in place and doing their job!
I had a couple in my 383 Bee that died by 2016 and replaced them all. Engine rebuilt in 1976.
You could NOT get a worse seal than the dumbrella seal. They go hard with heat, crack up. Use proper Viton seals which require machining the guides. The best ones have a garter spring aroud the v/stem which compensates for the seal wearing. The section that fits over the guide is metal clad...
It is very easy to machine your existing dist to take an O ring. I have done it. After removing the breaker plate, vac adv etc, remove the roll pin from the shaft & remove shaft. Body is ready for machining.

Very good reasons to stick to the factory wiring & let the aftermarket keep their wiring packages...
Yes, bat [+ ] cable goes direct to starter.
I think you need to post the M&H [ Mix & Hope ] cct diagram.
Before sending my '69 Charger off for restoration, my intention was to maintain the original wiring -- which was not in bad shape -- so I took photos and marked the original connections and components. However, after reading about some of the wiring fires others have experienced, I decided for...
