My 1968 Satellite
All of your cars are great! Keep driving them. Here's a couple of new pics of my work in (slow) progress. 360, 727, 3.91SG, big t-bars, swaybars, etc. Weekend driver.
More Pics
68SS - Your Sport Satellite looks like a real clean car, NICE. Here are a couple of pics, hope it helps. The Centerlines have more than doubled in price lately, Summit has the 15X10's for 300 each. My recommendation, either 15X8 or 15X9 with 275/60-15 rears. Look at...
68SS - I just left my old wheels and tires bolted on and measured off of those to the outer fender lip and to the inner wheel well. Then I measured the backspacing of the old wheel and made a drawing, to scale, of the old setup. This helped me figure out what backspacing my new 15X10 wheels...
68SS
I was going back through the thread and got to looking at YELLOW68RUNNER's car. In the first pic it looks like he has stock type and size wheels/tires front & rear. In the second pic obviously he has the 275/60-15's on 8" wide wheels on the rear that he mentions. His 3-3/4" backset looks...
68SS
The wheels on the rear of my car are Telstars. They are 15X10 with 5" backset (or rear spacing). I think when it's time to buy rear tires I'll go with 275/60-15. They are slightly taller and will fill up the wheelwell better (looking at the car from the side). Also they will be less...
Inner Fender Splash Shields
Plowman,
Here are a couple pics of the area in question. One with the rubberized splash shield held on with wire clips and one without. I think the holes in the inner fender are to give access to the upper a-arm, eccentric adjusting bolts. Notice the holes in the...
I had to do a little research on the subject, here's what I've figured out so far. The beltline trim goes right at the transition from the top of the door and rear quarter to the glass, convertibles all had it and Hardtops as evidenced by the attached photo could also be optioned with it. The...
Thanks guys!! pr - I think I'll leave the beltline trim on it after hearing how rare and beautiful it is  . I may need to find a replacement for the pass. side front fender though, it's kind of kinked up from a long ago fender bender, not high on the priority list right now.
Look at the "Hammer" Strope and crew built. It's a '70 Satellite and it's very nice and pretty much exactly what my dream car is. I couldn't care less that it isn't a Road Runner or GTX. I think Road Runners and GTX's are great don't get me wrong but as for me I'm planning on leaving mine a...
Jr no, it was originally a column shifted auto/bench car. Bench seat was long gone when I got the car, got buckets out of a newer Gran Prix in it, they are HEAVY, but comfy.
Thanks for the welcome daredevil & Runner!
Hello,
There seems to be a good bunch of guys & gals here, I'm glad I found this site. I've had my '68 Satellite for 7 years now and have made quite a few upgrades so far and plan on making more in the future. I've done 95% of the work on it myself and enjoy working on the Satellite when...
Here are a couple pics of my Satellite. To answer the engine question, no, I built a .030 over 360 with ARP main studs with a windage tray, with recon stock rods with ARP bolts and cheapo SpeedPro pistons. I've got a Comp XE262 cam in it with bone stock '78 360 heads shaved .025. Compression is...
I've got 15 x 10's with zero offset on the back of my '68 Satellite with 295/50-15 BFG radial TA's. It's a pretty tight fit but it works. If memory serves they are about 1/2" from the outside fender lip and about 3/4" from the inside of the wheel well/leaf spring. It looks good pretty good but...
