Can a High Volume oil pump suck the floor up?

Yeah, I heard that too. Kidding! Hey man, YOU opened the door on that and left it wide open!

    426 Hemi information

I guess I shouldn't say that I have no idea what a good Street Hemi block would cost. In the last 2 years I've seen 2 of those new Street Hemi short blocks that Gratiot Auto was selling for $795 in 1976. Those 2 were 1969 casting dates. They were around $25,000 each. And one of them was only 60...

Can a High Volume oil pump suck the floor up?

In the words of a very smart guy, John Kasse. If there is a line of sight between the crankshaft and the oil pickup you are going to have a problem. Doug

Been paying attention to the stock market again.....

Old money has been there a long time. I kept my investments in IRA's low, tax liabilities. Money from flips is a different story. That cash, SS from both of us, small pension and cd's is all I need. The rest of it is of no use to me. I live a simple life now, nothing like when I was in the fast...

    Why do men like gun/cars?

They allow me to challenge myself - guns, cars, and motorcycles. And archery (been doing that since I was 9). Faster lap times. Better apexes. Smoother shifting. Better running condition (maintenance/tuneup). Better groupings. Faster recovery between rounds. I enjoy the mechanical art. I...

Does anybody still do AC line reconditioning?

Check out Cold Hose in Ocala Florida. Just had them redo one of the metal lines on my Cuda. The don't make new metal lines, but can repair and reconfigure your existing line(s). Nice work, and good communication. They're not "quick" but worth the time IMO. Dave Cold Hose

    Air cleaner delete 71 318?

Don't worry about the air cleaner. Get yourself a carter bbd and bolt it on. There are probably like 2 vacuum ports on the carb. One that goes to the vacuum advance on the distributor and another that connects to the pcv valve on the drive side valve cover. You can put some rubber plugs on them...

    Air cleaner delete 71 318?

So I'm good as long as I plug all the vacuums on the carb? Rebuilding the original carb right now. Just wanted to make sure the car would start and run without the emissions stuff. It's got a egr valve thing on too but if I'm not mistaken looks like I can just plug that off too.

Unlike a missing 10mm wrench, nobody misplaces one of those!

I'm getting close to switching to a roller cam in the big block!

This is an interesting way to measure installed height. If I'm reading it right, you put this in place of the spring and rotate the collar until the valve is seated and the collar cannot turn anymore. That is with the collar up against the underside of the valve spring retainer. Let's say that...

Introducing "Project Odyssey" a 1972 "Super Satellite"

Update: More work on the 340 Mule motor. Finished shimming (on one cylinder head) the new 340 factory style valve springs to the proper installed height by removing the springs and adding whatever mix of .015", .030", .060" shims would satisfy the spec for each individual valve. I cut a very...

This is an interesting conversation. My uncle bought my block through dodge parts department in the mid 70’s and had it in his 73 cuda for a short time and then I bought it from him and it’s been in my 70RR ever since. Been honed once but is still standard bore and has about 15,000 miles on it...
