True... but I think it's more plausible that it may occur with a street crowd than a racing crowd. Most people racing would be applying 1st gear.

You could always mill .100” off the 906’s. Thats the cheapest way to raise your compression a point.
I did it and knocked a second off my 1/4 mile times.

It depends. The newer stuff does have more of a failure rate than the old, US production stuff. In the future, I'll be putting an OE distributor in with an HEI module conversion. Mopar boxes have problems too unless you get an old one. Like the MSD stuff.
I would replace all of the flexible brake hoses and add a power brake booster and appropriate Master cylinder. New brake fluid too!
Automatic adjusters won't make you stop any better.
