I think I like the pedals better with no trim on them. Today I took the trim off of the parking brake pad and gas pedal and I like it that way.

If I cut too much, I expose some of the ugly inside that is usually hidden. The ignition pushrod is one thing.
That is on the left side. If I cut too much of the collar off, it will be visible through the drivers door.

ALL 68-70 Chargers are worth money. For a shop to estimate a measly $10,000 value, they are clearly out of touch with the market. Cars that are relatively complete but need a LOT of work often get listed for over $20,000.

There were 400 4 speeds built for cars and even trucks.
I have a 440 in a 75 Power Wagon that originally had a 4 speed. It has a forged crank. The 400 4 speeds may have as well.

The E body K member will physically fit, there is a slightly different angle for where the steering box attaches. The 71-72 B and 70-74 E K members were supposed to have a unique center link to accommodate it but I have used an E body K member in a 70 Charger with no problems.

The roll pin held that bracket in place like the roll pin in our traditional pot coupler.
Now the firewall plate can come off.
I could either use the plate from my original column or modify this plate. I’m not sure which way that I will go.

The 1970 was the only year of the 68-70s that had that emission evaporative tube and 5 vacuum lines. I'm wondering if it is also there to protect that. I'd have to look closer at the car to refresh my memory.
