In my continuing effort to procrastinate I decided to put on my emblems. Here are some pictures. I ran a string front to back through the center of the side markers. Then I used a non-permanent marker to make a line. The metal emblem is 1.5" away from the fender edge and the decal is 1/2"...

It will look messy...but you can do it...it's your car. Just one more wire attached to the battery. Every time you tighten that battery terminal up the smaller lug will get more damaged.

Ok, I got the steering wheel closer ! It’s at 1/4 inch gap. Had to put a thick washer under the nut to get it to go on further
