Transmission disassembly mess containment- show us yours!

Have many drip pans....some were used under cars that leaked oil or trans fluid lol but most were used under engine stands. Used to have 3 stands but now down to 2 and will probably sell one soon I hope. All three were homemade and looked and worked better than those cheap ones that most bought...

Transmission disassembly mess containment- show us yours!

When I started my machine shop, I couldn't afford a fancy cylinder hone, so I used one of these and built one. The disassembly stand has a hole and funneled to drain liquids into a bucket. Can work just as well for a transmission as it does for an engine.

did car manufacturers break in flat tappet cams?

I considered having some old lifters cleaned and refaced to use again. I still might for milder builds but for the new cam for the red car, I went with a hydraulic roller to alleviate the anxiety.

Is it possible to slip the cork gasket under the timing chain cover on a 440 with the motor all together? Just trying to avoid having to disassemble everything just to get that piece in if possible.

did car manufacturers break in flat tappet cams?

$60 and a Fram filter  Back in the '70s we never heard of breaking in a cam. I don't know how many. We removed the radiator, water pump and timing cover, intake and valve covers and threw in a new cam and lifters, sometimes not even new lifters! Several times we did a set of lifters...

What did you do to your Mopar today?

No real progress since the weekend, but very happy with the progress made over a year and half of weekends, basically stripping the car down and building it back up including swapping out the 318 Poly with a freshly built 440…still work to be done and more surprises to come!
