Lots to look for. I assume its a 383 car? Look every inch over for gas stains. Make sure the sender is dry and if it has a return port properly capped. Odors can come from gas perking in the carb. One simple thing you can do is next time you have it out for a good run bring it in the garage...
That's where all the fuel evaporation issues come from. I have shut mine off and popped the hood for a listen and could hear the gas percolating in the carb.
Are you sure it's towards the back and not the front?
I just drove my Plymouth last week for the first time this year.

I have tried to reduce any prerssure in the tank by removing the...

I have a original Red, rear bezel if you might be interested.
Will have to go and find it, and look at the condition of the red lens.
EDIT:
Found it. It's not in good condition. The red lens...
I am new to the website and looking for quarter panels. No luck with my buddies out West or south, but someone mentioned a guy in Canada that may have the molds to make them. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
@Kern Dog If you want to scramble your brain, check out these factoids about Drag cars. Top Fuel specifically.
* One dragster's 500-inch Hemi makes more horsepower then the first 8 rows at Daytona.
* Under full throttle, a dragster engine consumes 1 1/2 gallons of nitro per second, the...
