I have a solid roller they can get you stressed with the noise thinking they are going to fail.....(I have a friend who is a bit of a engine rebuilder genius and he finds sometimes the only way to fix some roller cams is he uses a compression gauge winds the valve adjustment down till it...
I think you should go with the big one wire alternator and run a 10mm cable to battery from alt, so you dont get voltage drop and you will be fine. Then you will have amps left over for more accessories..
After I done that I never had any issues.
As soon as I put mine on the msd loved it...
Your not on your own, I went through 3 brand new basket mopar alternators before I got one to work,a lot of them are junk.
I ended up getting a one wire alternator it works fine, a bit crude but it works I will see how it goes long term.
But on my other car a 68 charger I have a later 90,s...
I had a similar problem with a mild 440 it was the demon carby, it was running on the idle circuit.Apparently its a tuning problem with demons(thats why their cheaper) it takes a good carb man to set them up right.Car temp dropped from 195 to 165.
392 I asked my friendly neighbourhood mopar engine rebuilder and he said to lower oil pressure simply shorten the spring on the valve in the pump.......try that!!!!!!!!!!!
let us know how you go!!!!
69 runner that sounds like the go try that first but if it isnt the problem it will be the heads.
Also compression test will not show if it is the heads because mine leaked in the top of the intake runners where the oil sits.
If it is not the intake this is how you test the heads...
392 I have a friend who is a genius at performance mopar engines and all engines in general, and with his own engine a high performance 440 stroker he had the same problem your having. He had 100 psi when you rev it up because he modified the oiling system to much then he had to put a restrictor...
Is that psi cold or hot both my big blocks have 90 psi cold just above idle until they warm up and 70-80 psi @ 3000 rpm hot .Have you cut the oil filter apart for inspection since you dyno'd engine just for curiositys sake?
I had the same problem with a 520 stroker and it had the best of them fooled we all though it was the pcv because it had oil in the return pipe, but it was weeping through the inlet side of the aluminium heads they were pourus. You probably wont have that problem with steel heads...
Was taught by a chrysler finatic early on only to run chrysler running gear. I dont want to give the ford guys any glory. Once the ford guys see it has a 9" diff they seem to think thats why it goes fast.....Keep everything as mopar as possible and it doesnt give them a foot in the door ....
Found some pics of my A body thought I would post them

602hp at 6000rpm & 600ft/lb at 4500rpm
