Looking for part / tip, 1973 Satellite / By-Pass Valve

Hi guys, last winter, I added some gauges to my Satellite (318). One was a Water temp sensor that I screwed in the waterpump housing where this "By-Pass Valve" was screwed in: When I evaluated all the loose hoses in the engine compartment, I noticed that one of the hoses was attached to the...

    Equus 8200 in a 73 Satellite

I also looked at that set but the smallest adapter they have is 1/4" NPT. I'll have a look if I have a few more options on the intake or water pump. If non, I'll go for an electric gauge which has the right 1/8" NPT sending unit

    Equus 8200 in a 73 Satellite

Actually tried to install the water temp gauge today. I noticed that the Equus nut / thread is way bigger than the original water temp sensor: I could install it in the radiator but the feeler wouldnt touch the actual coolant as the port to screw in is almost at the top of the radiator. Any...

Overstock Leaf Springs / 73 Satellite

You got a point with the rounded wheel well arch, I didnt notice that. Thing is that only this specific tire / rim configuration is allowed for my vehicle (Germany doind Germany things...) When the car is fully loaded (full trunk, 2-3 passengers) while going to car meetings, the rear drops even...

Overstock Leaf Springs / 73 Satellite

I just checked in my emails, I bought new ones in 2021, these were 6 leaf ESPO springs, no -1 or even -2. To my knowledge, there are now lowering blocks in the car. Attached is a pic of the car's stance with these springs

Overstock Leaf Springs / 73 Satellite

Thanks for the pic! I also have 6 leaf ESPO springs in it but my rear end is way further down. I would guess 2 inches, if not more

    1973 Satellite rear speaker dimensions

Hi folks, I wanted to replace the rear speakers on my 73 Satellite. While measuring the recesses for the actual speakers, I noticed that they are different. The right one seems to accept a 6x9" speaker, the left one is smaller (about 5x7"). Also the mounting holes seem different. Anyone knows...

    1973 Satellite Instrument Cluster restoration

Hi folks, I'm currently restoring my instrument cluster of my 73 Satellite. Electrically I'm almost done but I wanted to refresh the plastic part aswell. I though about sanding / scuffing the paint down, apply new primer and black matte paint. The trim could be done with a chrome marker...

    1973 Satellite Audio System

Great info, thanks! I was able to locate a similar speaker in Europe. Any tips for an actual amplifier? A stealthy one would be great

    1973 Satellite Audio System

Hello community, I recently ripped out that old, rotten football-shaped speaker from the center dash console. I replaced that with a self-made bracket and 2 x 3,5" speakers from Alpine. In addition to that, I added a small bluetooth-capable amp under-dash with 1 volume knob for controls (one...

Overstock Leaf Springs / 73 Satellite

Hiya guys, last year I swapped my old and worn leaf springs for new ones. Unfortunately, the rear of the car is still very low (like it's overloaded). I thought about swapping the leaf springs again for a pair of 1" or 2" overstock springs (from Espo). Does anyone of you have pics of said...

    Equus 8200 in a 73 Satellite

Is there any specific reason why you'd choose mechanical over electrical? As I'm from Germany, I'll most likely buy from Summit over a group buy, organized by a friend. So I'll have to google the thread sizes needed on the block to check if a suitable adapter is already included or if I need to...

    Equus 8200 in a 73 Satellite

Yep, I just noticed that the 82xx line is mechanical, the 81xx line is electrical. I might go with the 81xx line if that's an easier thing to install. Are there any downsides with electrical gauges compared to mechanical ones? edit: Actually, I was wrong. The 81xx series refers to 1 1/2"...

    Equus 8200 in a 73 Satellite

Thanks for getting back! Could you please elaborate on "limes adapters"? If "line adapters" are meant, what would these be? According to Equus, the 8164 (Oil pressure) and 8162 (Water temp) are electrical gauges. Thanks!

    Equus 8200 in a 73 Satellite

Hi community! I plan on installing an Equus 8200 gauge set (Water temp + Voltage + Oil Pressure) in my 73 Satellite (318). Did anyone have experience with that gauge set and a 318 engine? Do I need special adapters? Where would the sending units of water temp and oil pressure go? Thanks in...

1973 Satellite front end too low

No problem ;) The old ones were totally destroyed so taking them out was not a problem. I pressed one side in with a vise, put the pivot bar in and pressed in the other side. The other side is a bit trickier as you can't use a vise. You'll have to use something to stabilize the UCA. I cut a...
