I went with a repop on my upper dash pad as well. Like you, I couldn’t see spending that kind of money on the original. I did however have Just Dashes restore my lower dash pads and I was very pleased with how they turned out.
I used Just Dashes recently to restore the lower dash pads on my charger. It took 6 months because they always have huge work load but I was very happy with the results.
I used factory manifold gray on a set of headers once. I sand blasted the headers as prep. The finish lasted close to 20 years before a little bit of rust started come through. I was very happy with the results.
I think you’re fine. I just checked a picture of my GTX’s rocker arms and they looked the same. I have roller rockers on my Charger though and the hold downs are right up against a thin shim on each side.
Upping the weight limits isn’t a good idea. I work in the transportation industry and manage a shop that fixes semi trailers everyday. Overloading trailers will only cause them to get damaged and repairing trailers right now is a pain in the *** because of parts shortages.
Man that really sucks. Looked like a beautiful car. Glad you made it out with your life. I don’t know if I’d be able to stop myself from beating this **** out of someone who hit my car.
Bob, do you have pictures of the problems that your Classic Industries dash pad is developing? I just got my dash pad out and it was a lot of work. I had pretty much made my mind up to buy the Classic reproduction pad instead of restoring my old one but two years seems kind of short to start...
They will strip the cover and put a new one on, grind out and replace foam that is degrading and repair and remove any rust on the frame. They have some pretty cool videos of their processes on their website and Facebook. $700 seems a little steep considering a brand new reproduction dash pad is...
