I paid 700 for a 3/4 ton, camper special. 1970 with a 440 (not factory). This was 3 years ago. To me this truck looks like a mid 70’s early 80’s style.
The wife and I were just talking about this yesterday. I’m interested in the replies that you’ll get, as this is something that I am interested in pursuing as well.
The rule of thumb I’ve always followed is this, for box blades and land planes you go 1 foot wider than your rear tire width. So a tractor 5 feet wide uses a 6 foot wide implement. With a rear blade, wider is better, especially if you’re going to rotate it any to help pull in material from the...
I’m 31. My wife just turned 32. She’s owned her business for 12 years. I’m just now getting the farm (cattle operation) really going, but it’s all I ever wanted to do. I’m literally living the dream (my dream). God has been so good. We’re definitely not rolling in the money, but we’ve been...
The farm has a 50x50 shop and and 80x100 barn. My parents’ place has a 40x50 shop with a lift and a 40x60 barn. I sold my only b body and all we have left is my dad’s e body and my mom’s first gen mustang. One day if I ever have the time/ money I’ll have the room for a car. My dream house would...
The small town my wife is from has the best school district around, land there goes for 7-10k an acre. Her business is on main street in that town and 1,500sqft runs us 1,200 dollars a month. She’s in one of the original buildings first built there from the 1920’s or before when the town was...
My aunt and her husband in Tennessee farm around 4-5k acres. He owns a fair amount it and leases the rest.
Down here a thousand acres is a lot. Next to our farm is 222 acres of timberland for sale. It’s 2,700 an acre.
17,000 acres? Wow. No water? Is water well drilling a thing up there? But I’m sure the winters are brutal so having livestock would be difficult, but I could be wrong.
A couple of threads got me thinking. How much land/property is a lot where you are from? We own 77 acres in two pieces. Our house is on 5 acres and the farm property we purchased last year is 72 acres. We plan to sell and build at the farm in a few years. With my parent’s and grandmother’s place...
Went to town and bought some seeds for the garden. Last year they were scarce, I don’t see that changing this year. Soon as vegetable plants hit the nursery I’ll be buying them too.
Woods, land pride, and rhino make good heavy units. It would help smooth out your track. In my experience box blades have more of a learning curve. They are better at moving material and the land plane IMO is better at smoothing and leveling. I use both. Between our farm and our house we have...
I would recommend a land plane with scarifiers. More expensive than a regular box blade, but IMO, more useful. Especially when moving/ smoothing loose material like gravel.
This is the first year in a long time we haven’t bought any fireworks. But I probably have 3 boxes of stuff upstairs in storage. But it’s raining so hard right now, you can’t see 5 foot off the porch. Plus we only do quiet ones these days, to keep from scaring the cows. 3 years ago some got...
