Headers - mufflers - want to add glass packs

On the road the rear sound is 80% gone at least from inside the car. Another nice result is that I can hear the header noise from the front. The glass packs are 24 inch and they fit nicely in front of the FMs. One comment had to do with the crappy sound of FM and I agree. They are just what...

Headers - mufflers - want to add glass packs

Great question. I'm hoping it might go on a date or even a double date. So quieter might be better.

I would add the glasspacks. I have them already in the shop.

Headers - mufflers - want to add glass packs

Mine is a 68 Coronet 500 - Superbee with a 440. I have attached pics of the mufflers. I am hoping to make it quieter by adding 24 inch glasspacks. Seeking your opinions on this move. I really like the tips so I'd rather not change those. What will I gain with the added glasspacks? Thanks in...

Thanks - Mine had a 391 sure grip and I was told that it had run 12s in its prior life. It just seems like the ol 440 would be screaming at the end of 1/4 mile. I saved the 391 and recently installed 323.

Hi - It's Scott. With 391 gears what rpm are you at when you shift? 1/4 mile right?

    1968 Charger Sway Bar Dilemma

I just installed front and rear sway bars from Summit. Once the front bar is in place the tabs can be welded. Maybe drive it a bit to see where the tabs want to seat. If helps I can send a better photo of the tabs on Monday.

Get rid of the headers, right?

Well it's back together and still has headers. I did buy a "just in case" set of HP manifolds for the future. Having to drop the right side header and the trans just to replace the starter is a pain but perhaps is worth it to keep the performance added by headers. I am over 65 but more of my...

You are correct. The choke should never get its power from the coil.

The idea of the pressurized gas like propane is a good one. It's done by starting the engine and then blowing unlit gas anywhere there might be a vacuum leak. The idle will rise if the gas is sucked in.

We made sure that the top butterfly stayed open by sticking a screwdriver down there. Once that's done there is no air restriction. The electrical contact can remain in place.
